I have tried to do an informal research via CSE Service Allocation website to find out the number of Hindu jats selected as IAS and IPS from 2005-2011 (7 Years).
The above site displays the permanent address and Category(GE,OBC,ST,SC) of all the candidates selected as IAS,IPS. Using that I was able to infer with satisfactory centainty whether the person is jat or not.
Results
Hindu Jats form about 1.5% of Indian population.(2001 census)
The total jats selected as IAS is 30 and IPS is 54 for these years.
IAS % =3.74%
IPS % =6.1% (Total no of IPS vacancies was more than IAS)
Hence, about 4.95% of IAS,IPS officers in the past 7 years (2005-2011) are Jats.
LATEST UPSC EXAMS (2012)
10 Jats out of 168 in IAS
12 Jats out of 149 in IPS
Hence, 6.94% (about 7%)of IAS,IPS Officers selected in 2012 are jats.
Thanks.
