In one of the most stupid decisions ever made the IOC has thrown out the sport of wrestling from 2020 Olympics. Wrestling has been in the Olympics ever since its inception (probably 1896).
This is surely going to hit hard India's medal tally as our boys have performed exceptionally well in the London OG.
There is an online petition going on to save the sport. Please sign it - PETITION (https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/put-pressure-ioc-overturn-their-decision-drop-wrestling-olympics-2020/ClDPYshl) . I don't know if it is going to serve the purpose, but please do it just for the heck of it because who knows.

Well this is not a final decision. IOC is going to decide in September whether do drop this game or not.

To be honest, I don't know. Although still better than facebook likes/polls since this is a federal govt website.

I think they chalked out 6 games which includes wrestling also. They are planning to bring in some other game like pentathalon I guess.
Anyways the decision will be taken in September on ouster and chances are that it will be retained.

Very disappointing that a sport of such a high stature will have to compete against few silly others. I had to google what wushu, wakeboarding and sport climbing are.
"Wrestling will now join seven other sports in applying for inclusion in 2020. The others are a combined bid from baseball and softball, karate, squash, roller sports, sport climbing, wakeboarding and wushu. They will be vying for a single opening in 2020." Indian government should directly approach ICAS i.e International Council of Arbitration for Sports and raise voice against IOC's decision to remove wrestling from Olympics 2020.. This removal should be challenged in ICAS..
