This is in reference to the letter from D R Chaudhry published in your esteemed paper on 09.10.2013. While reacting to the views of Chief Minister, Haryana, who according to him gave a clean chit to Khaps, D R Chaudhry again resorts to half-truths and distortions to keep his continuous tirade against Khaps. It is by now widely known that he is a khap-baiter by profession, associated with a brand of leftists in Haryana working as minesweepers to help take-over of rural India by corporate capital and carries little credibility over his writings for his highly biased views on such affairs as khap and rural way of life. In his letter, he betrays again his hatred for khaps for ‘not changing with times’ which in normal parlance is the trait of chameleons and opportunists where principles in life have little value. He distorts facts in his letter to malign rural folks by depicting an assembly of people as ‘A big khap conclave held at Kurukshetra on April 13, 2010’. In fact, it was a meeting called by a monthly magazine to celebrate its day at Kurukshetra on that day. The organisers had spread the message to attract attendance in a hall that the proposal for amendment to Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 will be discussed in a seminar on the occasion. The banners of the magazine were quite visible in photos published in the media covering the event. Since, the meeting came in the background of decision in Manoj-Babli case awarding death sentence the people converged, even beyond the capacity of organisers to handle and capacity of the small hall. How this conclave became Khap conclave only the journalists who covered the story with their little knowledge about khaps affairs and D R Chaudhry know. It will help such highly creative people if they can go a piece from Ch. Piru Singh, a man of prestige about his stewardship of khap affairs in his time, as to what constitutes a khap meeting when he was reacting to a claim that had appeared in Jat Gazette on March 21, 1923 from a known khap Chaudhry about a particular assembly of people as khap. Ch. Piru Singh had also castigated such claims like calling a meeting of few khaps as ‘Haryana Khap’ or ‘Sarv Khap’. The other instances quoted by D R Chaudhry to substantiate allegations of abetting honour killings by khaps in Haryana are also similarly distortions of happenings spun by these elements to suit the tales being spread to fulfil a pre-determined agenda of dubious character. If collecting money in support of any accused is ‘abetting honour killing’ then D R Chaudhry is equally abetting elopement and sex depravity like rapes by young people through his campaign in the media on sex freedom.
It is surprising that a paper like The Tribune carry such biased opinions as in a propaganda sheet.

Has The Tribune published the above letter? I doubt they will publish it in toto.

Tirade against Khap panchayats by vested interests in the print and electronic media is well known. Khaps are working as an honest broker to maintain social ethics and morales, honour age-old cultural values and save the confronting parties from exploitation in Courts who only award their 'judgements' after decades of litigation, rather than rendering true justice. Those who favour Khap decisions are sometimes called 'Talkibanis' by so-called secularists employed in print media, who do not have a bit of knowledge about rural life, social structure and rich traditions.

Some traditions are truly rich and are the need of the day for better social environment. Such as care for the elderly, accepting the birth of a child, irrespective of whether it is a female, as a gift from God, keep oneself engaged in fruitful activities such as spiritual and care taking and work, eating simple food...

A simple food -> Good health -> Sound mind -> Thought for upliftment of all -> Rational decision.
No? (Again, it is on lighter note)
