It was in 1963 that I was joined by Jeet, my late wife and the little daughter, then four years old at Ramgarh, post the Sino Indian conflict of 1962 in, the then, NEFA where I was declared missing in operations by Army HQ.

While going around the local market my daughter, Chotoo , as we called her and still do , pointed to some expensive toy in the show window.

' Do you know from where the money comes?' I asked.

Her reply, 'Yes From Papa's pocket' floored me.'

This evening while awaiting my number in the queue at the local ATM, I noticed a mother punching the keys of the ATM while her child , a little girl watched in fascination .

How times changed the magic of Papa's pocket being replaced by the impersonal ATM!
