Battle for western UP

Western UP has gone from bad to worst as far as development is concerned. Entire area is now backward by all accounts. Quality of leadership from the area is extremely poor. One can not drive on Delhi Saharanpur road as its condition is pathetic. Lot will depend on election outcome in Baghpat this time. Let us hope we get some progressive leaders who win elections this time. Let us hope BJP candidates win on all the seats in western UP.

We are given tickets from jat dominated belts, what else you expect from BJPs end? Secondly jagah banayi jati hai bhai representation ke liye. Baghpat has less # of schools, hospitals than the state of UP on average for the population, if road is a state issue then why is Baraut Chhaprauli road never proper when MLA is always from Ajit Singh's party?

If Ajit singh's party cant build a road because they are not in the government, then why vote them and not SP or BSP for benefit of the area?

I dont know what good can airports do when people in his constituency dont get good medical benefits, or even good roads to reach Delhi which by the way is only 50 KM away from Baraut. It takes about 3 hours given the condition of the road, and not all the people are lucky to make it.

Look at the NCR map and how it has been expanding in Haryana and Rajesthan. In Haryana it goes all the way to Panipat. However, in UP it goes only upto Baruat and Meerut. Shami is as distant from Delhi as Panipat. Delhi_Saharanpur -Yamunotri Marg starts from National capital and there is no reason why it should not be a national highway. Has Ajit Singh ever raised these issue in Parliament ? If Deepender as an MP can bring central government projects to Rohtak, what stopped Ajit Singh as minister to lobby for the same in Baghpat? Ajit has been central minister many times. Ajit Singh has never allowed any jat leader from western UP to become prominent. No wonder the party leftover by late Ch Charan Singh has been reduced to "Ghar Ki Dukan" by his son.

I respect your sentiments. However, I will like to point out that I am not a blind supporter of either of the Hoodas. Yes I endorse Deepender Hooda and that's purely because of his performance and nothing else. As far as Jat Swabhiman is concerned, I certainly don't expect Ajit Singh and for that matter any other jat leader to be my guardian. My Jat honor is in my hands and my actions alone can protect that. I suppose same applies to every Jat. If recent incidences in western UP are any indication, Jats alone fought to protect their honor without the help of these so called Jat honor protection leaders. Traditionally jats have never depended on any leader to protect their honor. Its other way round always. Jats fight to protect the honor of their true leader. Late Ch Charan Singh was the true Jat leader and we all fought for him. Its Jats who got him Kisan Ghat and not Ajit Singh and others.

LUCKNOW: The BJP's experiment with 'Moditva'— a potent mix of Hindutva and Narendra Modi's development card — and BSP's social engineering will be put to test when 10 west UP LS seats vote on April 10. Since SP's return to office in 2012, there've been several riots here. The tussle between SP's minority appeasement and Sangh Parivar's aggressive Hindutva culminated in last year's violence in Muzaffarnagar.

It led to religious polarization, shattering old caste equations. Hate speeches of Congress' Imran Masood and BJP's Amit Shah ahead of the polls charged the atmosphere.

Saharanpur, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, Bulandshahr and Aligarh vote on Thursday. The belt is known as Jatland; the community constitutes 15-40% of the population in various constituencies. Muslims account for 15%-45% of the electorate, dalits 17%-28%, upper castes 8%-10%, non-Jat backward classes 10%-15%. Muslims vote for any party that can defeat BJP. Traditionally, BSP's combination has been Jatav-Muslim and SP's Yadav-Muslim. Jatdominated RLD also got Muslim votes.

BJP's base is mainly upper caste. In 2009, BSP won five of the 10 seats here, BJP-RLD alliance four (two each), and SP one. Congress drew a blank. In 2012, RLD allied with Congress.
