Earlier Yale University based in US then the World Bank Report and now World Health Organisation Report have found the Delhi air as most foul. All forms of pollution hit human and animal life but air pollution causes the immediate damage.Fine-particle pollution contained in the air of these cities causes serious diseases as these penetrate deep into the body. Vehicular emissions are the biggest culprit in air pollution.
When would we wake up and arise to control pollution, is the moot question.
For wake up call read the Tribune editorial 'Breathing in ill health - Don't just stifle your cough, demand clean air' dated 10.05.2014 page 12

This is all Western propaganda against India! On the contrary, no Indian city is enlisted as "World's 10 most Dangerous Cities". Which is better - "Worst" (ugly/polluted) or "dangerous" (risky for human life)? Here is the link for 10 most dangerous cities -

Even if we agree to what you say that the reports may be somewhat exaggerated, but the report prepared by Indian agencies to refute the findings are said to be in agreement that Delhi's air pollution data equals to Peking that is one of the dangerously polluted city of China.
But pollution in the urban areas is rising day by day in the urban centres.
Take one instance only of air pollution caused by vehicular traffic :
Do our vehicles on the roads carry latest world pollution specifications. I do not think the three wheelers running in various towns and cities come nearer to specified quantity of emission.
Something has to be done to check this tendency of making the life of people miserable due to air pollution.

Instead of blaming others for bringing the menace of pollution to light, we must try to minimise the damage being done to the health of the people.

DNDji, call it propaganda or whatever but the fact remains the same. In fact, air pollution kills more than smoking in India. The future certainly isn't looking bright with smog covered skies.

Delhi Air quality is being monitored at several places constantly. There is a need for more education and awareness and regulation.... However we are better than so many emerging cities.
Pl see. enclosed data.

Thanks friend. You have posted very good scientific data. Kindly help us to understand the meaning of 300 particals in air as on 10.01.2014. Is it dangerous for health or normal and we are worrying for nothing !

It is quite high. As per standard of "clean" city is should be not more than 100. Crossing 100 is indication of pollution. 300 is surely harmful for residential areas, . 500 is limit for industrial...

Western Prapoganda????
No, every city and village in India is following a model of unsustainable development, whereas adoption of industrial and modern lifestyle are need of the day but these needs are being fulfilled at the cost of nature, environment, non scientific attitude towards life.
More alarming are the situations in education sector where introduction of new education policies like @removal of 10th class board examination, non rigorous, non British education system, etc. are being implemented for coming generations.
Changes in the education system is building empty, shallow, non scientific, consumption oriented society/future generations/kids. Which is a good recipe for environmental and any other kind of disaster.

Why, i say Old British Education system?
I do not mean the education system being implemented in EU/UK at present, rather i mean the education system that connects with Industrial life style, where a major part of population moves from Agrarian society to Industrial society.

Government of India has enacted many laws to curb pollution but their tardy and ineffective implementation is the real problem. The public must join the movement to save biodiversity and extend cooperation to make the enforcement agencies to come forward to implement the existing enactments on the issue of saving further deterioration of atmospheric cover.
