In recent days the word 'NATIONALISM' is being hotly debated in the political circles and social media as well as various channels are busy giving their view on the issue as what constitutes nationalism in India. Therefore, it is in the fitness of things that we try here to understand what is nation and what are features of nationalism especially in the context of Indian historical background.

Our freedom fighters left a rich heritage on the issue of Indian Nationalism and the founding fathers of our Constitution fairly debated and decided the issue while framing our constitution. They also adopted some national days to be celebrated like Republic Day and Independence Day, they adopted National flag, national bird, national animal and so many symbols to promote Unity in Diversity and Diversity in Unity of India.

Have those attempts of constitution makers and freedom fighters become outdated and need replacement, is the million dollar question which comes to the fore in the context of present day debate.

Members are welcome to contribute logic based arguments on this thread title to make the debate meaningful.

The issues mentioned by you are the main features which have to be addressed if we want to see India as a vibrant nation. The symbolism of cosmetic nationalism is going to take the country nowhere nearer the concept of multi-cultural Indian nation where diversity is strongly bounded into unity n unity is discernible in spite of diversity of languages, dressses, eating habits, religious faiths, languages etc as visualised by our constitution makers.

Members are welcome to share their views on these aspects.

One of the major problems Indian nation is facing today is population explosion.

Conversely high rate of population growth eats away resources meant for other activities like education, health care etc etc.

Therefore this mother of all other problems needs to be tackled on priority basis.

How this could be done has to be decided by creation of national consensus on the issue.

Now question arises, are our opinion builders media, political leaders, intellectuals, NGOs doing enough on this issue.

If not, how to wake up them to action. If they are involved in this population control agenda wholeheartedly.

Then there would be no reason the problem is not solved sooner than later.

Yes population is the root cause of these problems but having said that even countries with smaller population also suffer from similar issues. I agree we have too many people and less resources and we must control our population. Otherwise people will suffer as usual and infact worst time ahead when we have artificial intelligence taking over human work. There is be even lesser number of jobs.
