In a sensational murder, Natasha Singh, daughter-in-law of senior Congress leader K Natwar Singh, has been shot dead apparently in a five star hotel here, police said on Sunday.
The body of Natasha, said to be in her mid-twenties, was found early this morning on the terrace of Hyatt hotel in south Delhi, riddled with three bullets, two in the back and one in the head, they said.
The body has now been taken to nearby Safdarjung Hospital for post-mortem.
Natasha and her husband Jagat Singh had been living separately for quiet sometime and had also reportedly filed for a divorce. The husband currently has the custody of two children.
Natwar Singh, former Minister of State for External Affairs and currently member of Congress Working Committee, expressed shock at the murder and said he had no idea as to who could be behind it.
According to the senior Congress leader, his son and daughter-in-law had cordial relations although they were living separately. They were in regular contact over phone and both had been attending parent-teacher meeting in the school of their children.
Joint Commissioner of Police, Southern Range, Satish Chandra, said investigations were on and that police was awaiting the postmortem report.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West) Taj Hassan told PTI that a missing complaint was filed by some friends of Natasha at Greater Kailsah Police Station after mid-night when she did not return home after a party.
"Following registration of the complaint, we managed to locate the body this morning," he said.
Hassan did not confirm reports that the body had been thrown from a height and said "till the post-mortem report comes, everything is speculative."
He said no one has been questioned so far in connection with the murder. "Questioning will start after the post-mortem report is made available," he said.
Hassan said the police was trying to trace the weapons and the empties from the site of the incident.
