I recently came across an interesting clip in Nature (International Weekly Journal of Science) where it was reported that some zoologists have set up a consultancy firmin U.K to sell ideas to corporate chiefs regarding decision making in their profession, based entirely on animal behaviour. The consultancy firm believes that humans and animals approach risk in a similar way and

therefore their model on how animals cope with uncertainity can be applied in corporate world too. Their strategy is to study companies decision making process, then check for areas where risks are being misjudged and then recommend remedies. Their theory is that animal behaviour can teach us a lot about decision making although others have pointed out a downside of the cocept which is that animal behaviour is the result of millions of years of evolution where new environments were presented to them gradually and therefore animals did not to need to think about applying their behavioral knowledge to new environments instantly- thefore animal model may not prove very useful in business world. Nevertheless, the firm has couple of clients on hand presently who are willing to explore this new concept.
