The youngest Test captain was the Nawab of Pataudi (later Nawab Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi), who was
aged 21 yr. 77 days on March 23, 1962, when he led India against the West Indies, at Bridgetown,
Barbados. He had a reputation as a brilliant slip fielder.

The largest fleet of buses is owned by the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation in
India. As of October 31, 1999, the company owned a total of 18,397 buses.

Largest Motorcycle Pyramid
The Dare Devils Team of the Indian Army Signal Corps achieved a motorcycle pyramid consisting of
201 men balanced on 10 motorcycles, on July 5th, 2001 at Gowri Shankar Parade Ground, Jabalpur,
India. The pyramid travelled a distance of 129 m (424 ft).

Highest Motorable Road
The highest motorable road in the world is in the Khardungla Pass, Kashmir, India. At its highest
point it climbs to an altitude of 5,682 m (18,640 ft). It was completed in 1976 by the Border
Roads Organization, New Delhi, and has been open to motor vehicles since 1988. The Khardungla pass
is one of the three passes on the mountainous Leh to Manali road route

Worst Mid-Air Collision
A total of 351 people died in an air crash 80 km. (50 miles) southwest of New Delhi, India, on
November 12, 1996, when a Saudi Boeing 747 scheduled flight collided with a Kazakh Ilushin 76
charter flight. The majority of the dead were Indian, but fortunately there were no land
casualties as both planes crashed down outside of Delhi.

Highest Score In Men's International Hockey
The highest score in mens international hockey occurred when India defeated the USA 24-1, at Los
Angeles, California, USA, in the 1932 Olympic Games.

Best Test Cricket All-Rounder
Kapil Dev Nikhanj (born 1959, India) scored 5,248 runs, took 434 wickets, and held 64 catches in
131 matches (197894). England's best all-rounder is Ian Botham (born 1955), with 5,200 runs and
383 wickets in 102 matches (197792).

An estimated 20 million people gathered at the Hindu festival of Ardh Kumbha Mela, held at the

Morarji Ranchhodji Desai (18961995) was 81 when he was appointed prime minister of India, in

The world's largest school by pupils is the City Montessori School, Lucknow, India, which by
September 2002 had a record enrolment of 26,312 pupils. The school was founded in 1959 by Mr.
Jagdish Gandhi, a socially motivated Gandhian, along with his wife Mrs. Bharti Gandhi, M.Ed., a
child psychologist. The pair launched their first campus on borrowed capital of 300 rupees, housed
it in rented premises and began with only five students

The world's largest delta is that created by the Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers in Bangladesh and

Longest Saree
A silk saree created by Vikas Chajjer of Bangalore, India, measured 121-m (396-ft) long and 114-cm
(45-in) wide. The saree was created in May, 1998, and featured hand-painted portraits of 127
leading female personalities from around the world

Rotary International PolioPlus India displayed a cloth banner measuring 50.4 km (31.3 miles) long
and 1 metre (3.2ft) wide on February 22nd, 2002 in Mumbai (Bombay), India

Most Leprosy Patients Treated
The Avadhoot Bhagwan Ram Kushta Seva Ashram Hospital at Parao, India, has treated more leprosy
patients than any other hospital. The total number of registered patients since 1961 has been
99,045 with full Leprosy and 147,503 with partial Leprosy - all of whom were fully cured. The
hospital was established in 1961 and receives no government funding - it runs entirely from public
donations and gifts. Patients are treated free of charge using Ayurvedic herbal medicines and the
Fakiri System, a method invented by the Indian religious saints

The record number of investors in a single share issue is 5.9 million, for the Mastergain 92
equity fund, floated by the Unit Trust of India in April and May 1992

Vatsyayana's Kama Sutra is believed to be the oldest sex manual in existence. Generally considered
the standard work on love in Sanskrit literature, the book is thought to have been written around
300 A D. Today the Kama Sutra is widely available and has been translated into a number of
languages.

Two bowlers have taken all 10 wickets in a Test match innings. James Charles "Jim" Laker (1922-86)
took 10 for 53 for England v Australia at Old Trafford in 1956, and Anil Kumble took 10 for 74 for
India v Pakistan in India on February 7, 1999
