Generally, the biology students go for medicine but there are many other options for them, one being research.
I would like to tell about the career opportunities, one can get in Indian Agricultural Research Institute,New Delhi.
-ARS exam, generally conducted in the month of June.It is for the recruitment of the Agri. Research Scientist.
Candidates having a PG degree from the Agricultural universities only , are eligible.PhD is not required.Generally they apply for their PhD after recruitment.

Entrance test for PhD programmes June. M.Sc students are eligible.If selected, one gets doctorate along with the monthly scholarship (while persuing the course)One can directly apply for the PDF abroad.

M.Sc from IARI.

RA,SRF,JRF posts for different projects. Advantage of learning several techniques. Getting some international papers, moreover,it improves the status of your CV.

You get an atmosphere where you can learn much.
There are a lot of JATS in IARI, occupying the posts of, Prin. Scientist,Sr. Scientist etc.
One can apply in Biotechnology,Biochemistry.Microbiology,Physiology ,Agronomy.Plant Pathology,Nematology, and much more.
So why not IARI?
