Jat areas depend on water due to agricultural occupation. The monsoons might fail anytime.
The undrground water table has been dropping
for many years now due to tubewells, diversion of water for urban population. It may seems awter scarcity is going to be a very big problem within a decade. Water scarcity can lead to a whole lot of other problems like reduction in farmer's income, increase in social tension etc. Israilie's use a system of drip farming where water is delivered drop by drop right at the roots of crop plants, minimizing evaporation losses
Drip farming may also minimize salinity problem.
If we had a data base of perennial plants suitable for minimizing loss of water, their
availability etc., posted on the net, perhaps it could be useful in helping educated farmers have another source of information. If information exits, links will build themselves.
