Ref Annals and Antiquities of rajasthan Vol II by Lt Col James Tod.

The chapter 'Annals of Jessulmer' of the same book gives out the origin of Saran gotra from Yadu Vansh." Masoor Rai had two sons,
Abhai Rao and Sarun Rao. Abhai Rao brought the whole Lakhi Jungle under his control and his issue multiplied bacame famous as the
Abhoria Bhattis. Saran quarred with and seperated from his brother and his issue descended to the ranks of cultivators and are well known as Saran Jats" ref page 179.

Col Tod notes "Thus it is the most extensive agriculture race spread all over India called Jats or Jits, have a tradition that they are
the descended from the Yadu race".

Todd is a romantic.

another problem with his writings is that his gaze or view of indian history stopped at the boundary of the Rajput community, and he could not see beyond.

His confusion though is fairly obvious for he cannot reconcile the late Rajput tradition , which only commenced 8th / 9th century, to the much earlier Jat/Jit tradition.

He had his challenges in histiography and the silly book "Annals and Antiquities of Rajasthan" is the result."

The book is useful, only as a reference for data, not for Todds's interpretation.

Still it makes interesting reading.

Jats are known also as Jits in the earlier tradition.

P.S> His story of the origin of Bhatti Rajputs does not hold any water. More on that separtely
