Insult to Mahatma Gandhi by MTV (USA)
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, January 29
The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Om Prakash Chautala, has decided to sit in dharna at Rajghat tomorrow to protest against the insult heaped on Mahatma Gandhi by MTV (USA) and a fashion magazine, Maxim, published in the USA.

Mr Chautala will be accompanied by his ministerial colleagues, party MPs and MLAs in the day-long dharna.

He will also submit a memorandum to the President of India in this connection. Tomorrow is the death anniversary of the Father of the Nation. Maxim recently carried a three-page article, “Maxim’s Kick-Ass Workout”, which depicted 21 different pictures of a muscular man hitting, kicking and choking Mahatma Gandhi, who has been named in the text. Similarly, MTV (USA) has been telecasting an animated series, “Clone High USA”, which shows a clone of Mahatma Gandhi as “G-Man”, who dangles ear-rings.

The President of the ruling INLD, Mr Sher Singh Badshami, said in a statement issued here today that the insult to the Mahatma was an insult to the country and disrespect to the high ideals of non-violence.

And on top of that the Maxim people have the audacity of saying that they will reply to all the compliants (lodged via phone/e-mail) in their next issue.

This just shows their lacklustre attitude towards all the complaints!!!!
