They say "well begun is half done"
And if we go little bit deeper into it we may say our vision ,our perspective decides our achievements.
One of my chinese floormate remarked "Chinese decided first to build their economy and then to take care of democracy and indians first took up democracy and economy was somewhere down the list"
And the result ,well our GDP growth rate lingers around 5 % and our neighbours (with that kind of size of economy) notch up cool 7%.
Combine this with our foreign policy and way we handle our national pride we got a recipe to reckon with.
And the effects manifest when an indian enterpreneur gets jailed in business conflict and indian professionals with valid travel documents get kicked in police station. And that too in east asia!!!
It is not about going chest thumping around the globe and flexing the muscles(if any!!) it is about the perspective founding fathers of our nation had when building this country. They were more concerned with giving India a benign image which led to a rather pathetic outlook towards world.
Alas legacy continues, whatever each finance minister and foreign minister claims our ideals remain same as they were in 50´s.
With this kind of vision how can we think of becoming a regional power or whatever our esteemed leaders claim!
Need of the hour is radical change in the way we look at our interests and reset the priority list.
