The well known Jat rulers of Bharatpur are from Jadu Kul; the kul of Lord Krishna. The same is true for the rulers of Mahaban and Bayana. The Jadu Vanshis from the death of lord Krishna as per the Brahmans have been ruling in Bayana-Mathura region.

The story as per the myth goes like: The Jadu Vanshis moved to Dwarka with Lord Krishna where they all died fighting each other ( Sri Mad Bhagawat Puran). Usha wife of Anurudh, the son of Pradhumun and the grandson of Lord Krishna at that time was at her parents home and was pregnant. She gave birth to a son named Brajnav, who founded his kingdom at Santipur (now Bayana). Since then the Jadu Vanshis have been ruling in Mathura- Bayana region. From Bayana only the other Jadu Vanshi rulers spread all over India taking the worship of lord Krishna with them. That is why lord Krishna is worshiped most in India.

As per Brahman Jagas (geneology keepers) The Jaindra Pal (also referred as Jai Pal or Jaitra Pal) the 241st ruler in line from lord Krishna of Jadu kul ruled over Bayana-Mathura- Mahaban region in the beginning of 11th century.

The word Jadu is also referred as Yadu but the correct pronunciation of the word is Jadu not Yadu. The records of Jagas are written in Pingal Language in which there is the scope of such mistakes. The word Jadu became Yadu and later on Jadav/ Jadon or Yadav. The Ahirs(Mulayam Singh Yadav) are not Yadavs. Their writing of this surnames is an incorrect practice. They in fact are Nand Vanshi Ahirs. The Nand Baba, in whose house lord Kishna spent his childhood, was the friend of Vasudeva a Jadu Vanshi and the father of Lord Krishna. Nand Baba was a Ahir. All ahirs have originated from Mathura and have spread to Bihar and UP. People writing Yadav or Jadhav in south is the correct practice as they are Jadu vanshis.

The Jagas are Bhardwaj Brahmans and reside in and around Agra-Gwalior. Their records were frequently used by Col Tod in his books Annals of Rajasthan. Each family of Jaga looks after few gotras.

As per historical evidences (ref gazetteer of Mathura) the Jadu Vanshi rulers, though not in the genealogical line of Lord Krishna rulers have been ruling this area after lord Krishna. Andhakas (Krit Varma one of the adviser of adviser of Kaurvas), Sursenas and Vrishnis three main branches of Jadu Vanshis ruled over this region. 23 rulers of sursenas till the time of Nand of Magadh(4th century BC) were the rulers of the region. The first ruler being Vajra. The boundaries of their kingdom were Chmbal in south, upto 80 KMs north of Mathura and the kingdom of Kuru, Matsya in west and Panchala in East. The region was then known as Brahmarshidesha (that section of Aryavarta and inside of Madhyadesha which was noted for the noble, pious and orthodox conduct of the people. They were overthrown by Mahapadma Nanda. But soon the area was regained by Vrishnis the one of the branch of Jadu Vanshis. The republic of vrishnis has been mentioned by Chanakya in Chnadra Gupta Maurya’s period. Chankya has also mentioned them to be following the democratic system of governance( a form of panchayata system still prevalent in Jats), worshiping Balram and Krishna.

Jadu Vanshis were not very strict about inter caste marriages or widow marriage. In fact Lord Krishna married many of the queens of the kings whom he had killed in the battle. That is the reason they were never considered to be the Pal Bearer of Brahman religion and have been mentioned as asuras in Puranas and Krishna himself being called as Vratya (one outside the Pale) by ministers of Kauravas. As he helped Pandavas, the symbol of Brahman religion to est their rule over entire Aryavarta by killing so called Asuras the lord Krishna was considered as Avatara.

In 1st century BC the region came into the Saka rulers; Hagan, Hagamasha, Shivdatta, Shivhgosha, Rajuvula and Shodosha. The Hagan and Hagamasha both brothers ruled over entire north India from Mathura as Saka Kchatrapa. The descendents of theses rulers were probably absorbed into Jadu Vanshis by way of inter caste marriage a common tradition among Jadu Vanshis. The name of present gotra of Haga in the Jadu Vanshis has probably come from the names of first rulers of Sakas; Hagan and Hagamasha. During the reign of son of Sodosha a lady tosha in fact built a temple for five vrishni heroes ;Lord Krishna, Balrama, his two sons and grand son. The inscription of it has been found in a well in village Mora in Mathura District and has been written on the orders of the son of Sodosha. It suggests the absorption of Haga in Jadu Vansh folds.

From first AD to third AD the region remained under Kushan and Naga control with Jadu Vanshis only controlling Bayana. In the end of third century the Jadu Vanshis from Bayana again established their control over Mathura and Mahaban area. In fifth and sixth century Huna invaded the country and established themselves at Mathura.

Phakka, Kulabhata and Ajita all Jadu Vanshis of Bayana (6th Century AD) regained control of Mathura. In fact the names of 37 rulers have been found in one of the inscription on a pillar found in Kama, a place close to Bharatpur. The Harsh Vardhan did not include Bayana into his empire as it being Jadu Vanshi kingdom . Inscription of Dharam Pal a Jadu Vanshi ruling over Bayana- Mathura- Mahaban in ninth century has been found.

In 9/10th century Sind Pal ruled over the area. 11th from Sind Pal; Jaindra Pal (11th centry AD. also known as Jai Pal or Jaitra Pal) thereafter became the known ruler of the region. As per Brahmans he was 141st in line from lord Krishna. The Jai Pal wad defeated by Muslim invaders but he continued ruling the area. After Jaiyendra Pal his son Tahan Pal or Than Pal ruled over the area.

Than Pal had 11 sons. Under the pressure from the invading muslim rulers they spread out in the entire Rajasthan and Gujrat and Sind and established their kingdoms. Dharam Pal (Karouli), Madan Pal ( Bal Chand the decedent of Madan Pal the fore-father of Bharatpur rulers), Mahi Pal ( Mahaban), Viajay Pal, Ran Pal ( Ranthambore) and other 6 sons. As per the Jaga the Mahi Pal was the son of Than Pal from whom the Sinsinwar, Haga, Ghayar and Sogariya (Natwar Singh) have originated so there is some variatio here.As per the Jaga the one of the son Jassal Pal established Jaisalmer. There is some variation here in the Vanshavali of Jaisalmer rulers and the info of Jaga. As per the jaiselalmer vanshavali Jadu Vanshis Bhatis came from north (the city of Gandhar now Gajani). The Sidhus of Punjab are also Jadu Vanshis. The Jadu Vanshis moved further south and were known as Jadav rulers of Maharastra ( they write Jadhav as sur name)
Yadavs in Andhra Pradesh, Vijaynagar empire in Karnataka, Vadiar rulers of Mysore, Varma Raja of Travancore and Tripura.

After the defeat of Kul Chandra in the hands of Mahmud of Gajanavi in 1018, the Mahaban area came under the rule of Jadu Kul rulers from Bayana. 7 generations of Haga gotra (now known as Haga choudhary) of Jadu Kul or Jadon ruled over the area even after the Muslim rule. The area of their rule included Mathura, the eastern area on the bank of Yamuna in Agra, present Firozabad, upto Koel (Aligarh) and part of Eatah district. The Mahaban line of rulers 11-13the century AD is:- Mahi Pal, Vijay Pal, Ajay Pal, Hari Pal, Dig Pal and other 3 rulers. The daughter of Raja Dig Pal was married to the Kant Kunwar; the son of Rana of Katira in Mewar who had taken refuge with Raja Dig Pal after having been driven out of Mewar by Muslims. As per one story Kant Kunwar overthrew his father-in-law and constructed a small fort in Mahaban which was soon captured by Muslims. Thereafter probably Haga Choudharies moved to their present area of Naugaon, Arotha, Bisawar and Susayan( Unchagaon) between Sadabad and Baldeo in Mathura district. Where they controlled the area as Choudhary; the title given by Turk Muslim rulers.

It is therefore, evident that the JaduVanshis remained as rulers of the area from 4th century to the 11/12 century and till they were over powered by the Muslim invaders. Another fact is that the Jadu Vanshis have ruled over this area from the time of lord Krishna with few gaps of 200-300 yrs but never loosing control over Bayana as feudal lord of ruling emperor. The records of Jaga also support the argument. After the arrival of Muslims the Jadu Vanshis again established themselves as the rulers of Bharatpur in 15/16 century after the gap of 300 yrs only.

The decedents of Mahaban rulers now reside in 120+ villages divided into four Kheras; Bisawar (founded by Ram Sen), Naugaon ( founded by Ch Udai Singh or Udoo his father being Beenar Dho), Arotha and Unchagaon or Susayan.

The line of Udoo goes like; Ch Udai Singh-Ch Kanak Singh -Ch Akhan Singh-Ch Ishwar Singh-Ch Jagmuni-Ch Khem Karan-Ch Bal Karan-Ch Jas Ram-Ch Net Ram-Ch Bhoj Raj-Ch Laxman Singh-Ch Tika Ram ( Tikam Singh)-Ch Kamal Singh ( the Jagir of 5 villages given by Mugal rulers after sacking Jat revolt in Sadabad during the reign of Aurangjeb was taken back after independence)- Ch Shiv Charan Singh- Ch Ashok Kumar Singh ( the author Lt Col Ashok Kumar Singh). All of them writing Varma as sur name with the gotra Haga. Pronounced as Ch so and so Varmah, Haga Gotrey, Jadu Kule by the Brahmans

The insignia of the Choudharies of Naogaon has two tigers standing under a Kadamb tree with their front legs on the trunk of the tree and faces in front. The war cry is Daujee Maharaj kee jai, Naogaye Nangar Khere kee Jai aur jo naa bole bai mai de. Daujee is the elder brother of Lord Krishna. He is remembered being the eldest of the family.

It is clear from the above genealogy that Jadu kul gotras of Jats have always been the rulers. They may not be ruling in the name of Jats as the name is of later origin. Jadu Vanshis are now either Rajputs or Jats. As the division among them was created due to vested interests and was motivated. In the Braj Area the Jadu Vanshis are divided into three groups. The rulers of Bharatpur (Sisinwar) and Mahaban( Haga Choudhary) are the Jats whereas the rulers of Bayana/Karouli are Jadon Rajputs and Khanjade Meaos are Muslims.

Due to space constraints not complete genealogy is given.

.

RAM RAM all,

Hi,

This is an area where I have done a little readings last year.

Firstly, most Ahirs write "Yadav", but not all Yadavs are Ahirs.
Make sense?

Reading people like Ibbetson, Bingley & Joon (and also KC Yadav - who is a good Haryana historian) ...

There are 3 types of Ahir:
1) Yadu Vanshi or Jadu Vanshi - these are predominant in Ahirwal (Alwar, Rewari, Mahendragarh, Gurgaon).
2) Nand Vanshi - these are predominant in Western UP (Etah, Bulandshahar, Agra & Mathura).
3) Gwala Banshi - these are the gwalas & are considered the lowest of the three. They are spread out from Haryana to Bihar. They are unlikely to be land-owning, whereas the other 2 are.

Yadu Vanshi Ahirs have common gotras with the Jats (eg, Dahiya, Atri etc)
Bhatti Rajputs are descendents of Yadu Vanshi Ahirs, and Sidhu & Barar Jats are descendents of Bhatti Rajputs.

And Mulayam Singh Yadav is not a Nandvanshi Ahir - they are only concentrated in western UP, and he is from Kannauj/Etawah region. Other politician, DP Yadav is a Nandvanshi & there is great rivalry between the two.

My 2 cents input,

Regards and RAM RAM,
