Dr. Jagbir Singh was born in a town 30 miles north of New Delhi, in a family that earned its living from agriculture. After completing his basic education from various schools, most of which were far away from home, he went on to obtain an MS degree from Aligarh Muslim University.

He taught in India for two years before accepting a research assistantship offer in 1962 from the Department of Statistics, Florida State University. Upon earning his Ph.D. in 1967, he started working as an Assistant Professor at the Ohio State University. Dr. Jagbir moved to Temple University, Philadelphia in 1974, where he is currently a professor at its Fox School of Business and Management.

Dr. Singh and his wife Veena are blessed with a son and three daughters. Frequent visits to India have helped this close knit family in keeping touch with its roots. The whole family takes great pride in devoting time and finances to a girls’ school it founded in Dr. Jagbir’s mother’s name in village Rathora in U.P.

Thank goodness,

I find this post very encouraging as compared to what is happening around.

Nevertheless , I am considering an abstraction and a replicable process for the education in the Jat belt. Anyone thinks that they may have something to say in that? That way we can communicate offline before presenting the ideas for general review.

Regards,
Ajay

Dr. Jagbir Singh is an inspiration to us all. He is also Chairman of our NAJC's Scholarship Committee. Success of our scholarship program is all due to him. He spends an inordinate amount of time for NAJC causes. Their daughters Seema, Sapna and Shikha as well as son Rajesh are very much involved in Rathora school. So much so that they request that gifts if any on a certain occasion such as Wedding Reception, graduation or birthdays not be given to them but rather to NAJC and this way they have helped NAJC causes quite a bit. My grateful thanks to this wonderful family.
