Ahlawat Khap endorses boycott call
Our Correspondent

Rohtak, November 2
The Ahlawat Khap (comprising 27 villages) has endorsed the decision taken by the Sampla Chaugama panchyat to boycott the official programme of Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, slated to begin tomorrow in four villages of the Hassangarh assembly segment .

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Khap held at Garhi Sampla village this afternoon. It may be recalled that the Sampla Chuagama had decided to boycott the Chief Minister’s programme in protest against the Sampla episode in which some women of Garhi village were roughed up by the police personnel on October 3.

The officiating president of the Khap, Mr Jagdeep Singh Gochhi, along with other representatives of the Khap, would remain present at the ‘Chaupal’ at Garhi Sampla village to ensure absolute boycott of the chief minister’s programme. Mr Chand Singh Ahlawat, spokesman of the Khap, clarified that the Khap would stand by its earlier four-point resolution adopted by the Panchayat on October 12 to continue the agitation till acceptance of their demands.

The Khap spokesman refuted the allegations levelled by Mr Ranbir Singh and Mr Ramphal Sunarian, presidents of Athgama (cluster of eight villages) and Satgama (cluster of seven villages), respectively, that the affected families had violated the dignity of panchayat by rejecting the offer of financial assistance.

A Press release issued by the district administration quoted some sarpanches as saying that the boycott of chief minister’s programme as unjustified.
