Dear Friends,

An intersting argument is being presented our great Sharad Pawar, hon'ble agriculture minister that wine is not liquor and its just a food item.

Irrespective of tyhe merits of his argument, it certainly favours farmers and we should support this move. I know Sharad ji is trying to help more of wine industry here than farmers, but ultimately the benefits come down to grape growers also.

Even though the Wine is sold at liquor stores, it has a low alcholic contents. The Doctors suggest it helps in keeping good cholestrol level high and thus useful for health. It is essentially part of food in Western World.

I agree with Rajendra Ji, that it would help the farming community. In any case, if we don't grow it some one else would definitely do. To hope that consumption of liquor will stop in society is wishful thinking only. I would suggest, rather than having ban and toying with the idea of making a particular area a dry area, is just helping corruption grow. Instead of this, we should educate people about the ill effects of excessive consumption of alchoholic drinks.
