dear nitin can u add some hindi font, i think there are many available now , so that on jatland v can post and read atleast in hindi ( still no demand for haryanvi, Font work is under construction). as i observed that half of the threads are in hindi or haryanvi, so it would be easy to understand and can enjoy with real taste.
( sorry i dont know if there was any discussion before for this issue)

bhai nitin/sejwaal whats progress for installing Hindi font. if any technical problem let it put here, somebody will come with a solution. there are so many web designers on jatland and its not a big task for them.

The problem IMHO is that the fonts need to be installed on the client machine for them to be viewable. I think there is a way to embed fonts in web pages, but not sure if it can be done dynamically. also, mixed language contnet is much tougher to maintain. it is easier to do it for static pages than for dynamically generated pages such as forums.
another prob is that most ppl will not have hindi keyboards, so not sure if the time/effort involved in setting it up pays off...
would appreciate if someone knows of a technical implementation of this, and we can experiment with it.
Nitin, yeah you are righta about problem of script with dynamic pages... but was wondering could we have static pages like wiki/history pages where people can upload Hindi poems/raagnis/historical documents/etc...(wiki pages are dynamic too but is it possible?) and member can contribute too in that....

I believe, even if the pain is too much for using hindi on the website, we can have the logos or any alerts in 'Image' format on Jatland..for ex. the logo 'Jatland.com' can itself be replaced with an image created in Hindi font using Photoshop or any other tool..It can say 'Jaton ki Dharti' in hindi
Similarly various static messages can be shown in hindi in image format..

per mein ye chah raha tha ki website pe hi daal dete font ko ye administrator te badhiya ho jata per issa laage sei inke palle na pada yu kyukker daalla jaga. individual computer pe te waahe kahani rah gi.

You are right Bhai Dangi. Actually, I myself wanted to put the font file 'Mangal' in my post in "Tech Talk". But since the file is of 140 KB capacity, it has not been possible to post it as an attachment. In our posts, we can attach a file which is not more than 100 KB capacity. But this can be copied from any WinXP PC or can be sent to anyone interested, as an e-mail attachment. I have mailed it to a few, whoever requested me. Your idea about posting the fonts on the site itself, is an excellent one.

Font "Mangal" is part of Windows XP but those having PCs with earlier versions of OPs have to install this font. There are several websites from where it can be downloaded free. It is a short file (140 KB only). When I write a post in Hindi, I insert the following sentence in the beginning:
"(This post is in Devanagari script. If there is difficulty in reading the text, there is need to install ‘Mangal’ font.)"

I have helped several members by sending this font-file by e-mail, whoever requested.
Making download facility on this site itself is a technical issue which Nitin has explained above.
