Dear Frndz.... here are few tips to boost ur PC performance
1) Disable all the programs that you don’t need right after booting, i.e. remove all the shortcuts from the Startup folder.
2) Disable prefetch:
Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters
Name: EnablePrefetcher
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0
The following list describes the different possible values for the EnablePrefetcher key. To disable Prefetch, set the Value to 0.
0 = Disabled
1 = Application launch prefetching enabled
2 = Boot prefetching enabled
3 = Applaunch & Boot enabled
3) Remove prefetch:
Go to “C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch” and remove all the prefetch objects from the folder, Only remove the prefetch for the program you don’t use or don’t have them any more.
4) Disable System Hardware Devices:
Devices like Modem (if using broadband), extra network adapters, Multimedia (like game port or my MIDI device), PCMIA etc can easily and safely be disable from Device Manager depending on the need.
5) Disk Cleaner, Disk Defragmenter (both built in XP) at least twice a week helps keep system clean and error free.
6) Proper use of Antivirus (avoid with too many unneeded services) and Anti-Spyware helps big time.

Every version of Windows uses four main files to a varying degree while booting up. These four files are autoexec.bat, config.sys, system.ini, and msdos.sys.
1) autoexec.exe should be empty unless a command-line software is in use.
2) config.sys can be modified by adding the line stacks =0,0
3) system.ini add the following lines under [386Enh]:
LocalLoadHigh=1 - This setting tells the computer to load everything the operating system needs into upper memory by default, freeing up as much conventional memory as possible (the first 640K). Microsoft would like us to believe that this no longer effects the system, but they are lying.
DMABufferSize=64 - This setting tells the computer to leave as much memory available for DMA data transfers as possible, speeding up not only the boot process but the system in general.
4) msdos.sys: Change Hidden and read only attribute. Use notepad or ultraEdit and change these things depending on your preference.
Logo=0 - This setting turns off the silly Windows splash screen during startup.
Drvspace=0 - This setting turns off support for Drivespace-compressed FAT16 drives. Since no one uses this anymore, it is safe to disable. Disabling it will not only speed up your boot time, but it will also free up some extra resources as well
Dblspace=0 - Same as above, but this time for Doublespace-compressed FAT16 drives.
DisableLog=1 - This setting disables the log file which Windows creates by default when booting up. Since no one ever uses the log file for anything anyway, it won't be missed.
AutoScan=0 - This line disables the automatic scandisk that is run if the computer is improperly shutdown - saving a bunch of time if you are constantly restarting your computer using the power button instead of the '~~ One-Click Superfast Shutdown or Restart ~~'
Disabling some built in services can also decrease boot time and help comp speedup:

• Background Intelligent Transfer Service
• Distributed Link Tracking Client
• Error Reporting Service
