    pastuns/pathans and jats

Any racial relation between the two? Sometimes jats and pathans cannot be distinguished physically. Before the arabs came there were pathans/pastuns living in afghanistan and thereafter the invasions they were converted to mussalmans.
The invaders that entered the subcontinent may have mixed together to form pathans/pastuns and jats.
Any genetic studies that shed light on this?

    Cool

ok here goes Since no one else sees fit to reply I'll give it a try despite the

amateur i am. according to most scholars the jats are descendants of

scythians who came to India via afghanistan. So scythians must have

been in afghanistan mingling with the original inhabitants. The pathans

were propably just jats or rajputs who became a separate people after

    Islam arrived in the region

A similar thread is going on another site so we are not starting it here.

Sythian is a very wide term and covers many non jat races also.

Jats most probably are related to east sarmatians which were clubbed along with other non jat group groups in to sythians.

These sarmatians or messajatae, or Yazyg lived from indus to central asia and those reported by wetrners are in fact the western expansions of jataes, jatoi(iatoi of pilini)juts jats etc,But their original home is india only.

Jats are ancient inhabitants of afghanistan pakhtuns came much later it is so clear by different proofs that leaves any one in hardly any doubt.

    Some of them are,

1 In archaeological excavations of bacteria marghiana complex(Aghanistan)
earliest samples found are those of jats.

2When the pakhtuns arrived they found jats leaving there and called their language hindco and jatki(boly of jats),use of these two terms amply explains what was the language of hind when they came there,it leaves no one in any doubt.

ghakkars avans etc ancient tribes living there reported them as jats not only to british census officers but even to babbar who mentions ghakkars khokkars and other casts as jats. However after advent of islam like so many other casts they started searching their roots in kutubshais as so many others did.

Their forefathers are all hindhus found in their geneaologies.

Jasrat jat was one of those khokar who a jat.

Word Sythian is too general if this can be applied to any cast it is pakhtuns only as most representative sample of sythian language is pashto,so phatuns may be sythians as reported in iranian literature.

Afridis are related to a jewish decent.

Pathan is a groop name given by indian to many different tribes inhabiting this area and mainly pashtuns.

Since pathans are found wetern and jats in the eastern areas also show arrival of these sythian pashtuns from western areas.
