Dear members, what could be the significant of Ghuddchaddi[at the time of marriage of a boy? What could be the logic behind taking the boy around the village on a horse back. Was it just a famliarization trip/a pomp&show/Religious ceremoney ar mixture of all. Please share your thoughts. Also through some light on Sister throwing rice all through the period. Why rice only not wheat or bajrra etc.

As per my ltd. knowlidge and thought process, reasons may be on the following lines....

    1. Ghudchardhi - as shaadi is an auspecious occasion, the groom goes to offfer his prayers and to seek blessings for a new life to gaanv ki maanta like dada, johri, baba, temple, mata, and these places of faith are normally in the centre of village or on one side, and also yeh ceromoney jyadatar gaanv ka chakkar lagane sae poori hoti hai, dhool ka karan tou sabko pata hoga, lekin asli chiz tu geet hoya karen jo behen/maa gaati hai uss waqt. waise bhi hum har shubh / bade kaam ko karne sae pehele ek baar haath jodne aur aashirwaad lene jaate hi hai.

    2. chawal - kaunsi pooja ya shubh kaam hai jo bina chawal ke poori hoti hai hindu reet riwaaz mei, even behen jab tikka karti hai tab bhi chawal hi hota hai jo upar sae phenka jata hai, aur tilak bhi chawal ke saath hi kara jaata hai, must be that sister showers chawal to keep evil spirits and evil eyes(nazar) away.

So Sandesh you want to say that Ghudchaddi is more of a religious ceremoney and that rice is pure grain and is taken as a instrument of keeping evil spirits away. But what makes rice so pure and auspecious in comparison to Wheat /Bajjra etc?

Agree with Laxmnaji & Sandesh bhai,

    Dahiya saab,

Because of Hindu Rituals and we all (Hindu) must follow all the ritual and routines.

Hinduism is not a religion but a way of life. Unlike other religions, Hindu dharma has many specialties. This is not known as a religion, it is known as the dharma; Sanaathana Dharma. Sanaathana means, according to Bhagavath Geetha, which cannot be destroyed by fire, weapons, water, air, and which is present in all living and non living being. Dharma means, the way of life which is the ‘total of all aachaaraas or customs and rituals’

    The Importance of Rice.

Rice is a very Important Grain in almost all the rituals in India and also in Foreign Countries. This can be attributed to the fact that Rice is the First Known Food Grain to be cultivated and even in india Wheat was introduced from the middle east quite later on and as a result rice is the grain used by all the hindus in their rituals.

Its relegious, its celebration and its a tradition, an age old custom.

Rice is also called as "akshat" in sanskrit, kaka not evil spirits but as we all know in puja u have a have ann, and rice is used there, as its considered as a "sampuran ann", rice is also the mark of prosperity.

might be another significance could be, that sister showers rice so as the brother remains happy and fullfilled ever after, alos us paraat mei haldi bhi hoti hai, and we all know the significance of haldi in our culture, traditions n medication.

phaekannn nae tae aam, kinu, samosse, pastry, cake bhi phek sakya sae, mehenga ho sae (hahhahahahhaaaaa) , par sahi samay par sahi chiz ka istmaal sahi tarike sae sahi bhavnaao ke saath kara jaaye to uska impact bahut gehera hota hai.

Laxman ji nae jo kahi woh kitni suthri baat thi, very true u were, but the matter of fact is how many follow these rituals accordingly, eib tae jhanti bhi koye na leke jaamta, arr jya bhi sae tae banqet hall nae fateh karke uske aae baandh dae sae... hahahhaa

waise one more thing i would luv to say, this "janti bhandna" also interprated as a medium by which susaal waalo ko ek promise dena ki this is dullh's place now, and he would think for the betterment of this family as the girl would do same for his fam, also in todays times this jhanti shall be a gud tool to remind susraal walahs ki sirf beti hi nahi hai, damaad bhi hai :D
