This is not a trial version. it is free for home users, you need to register and acquire an registration number which will last for 13 months. After 13 month you need to get another regd. number for extending it for another 13 months. Just look at company web site and register. without key it will remain a trial version.
This is the way company extending its services free for home users. Its very powerful and updates every four hours. Me and many of my friends have been using it for the last many years.
There are a few others also free but all are just crap.
For professional and paid anti virus , i will recommend NOD32

Which is the better Anti-Virus Software?

Some have problems like heavy resource consumption.
Some detect less viruses.
Some are not easy to operate or less GUI features.
Some are costly.

Bro, Kaspersky & Eset are argubly the best Antivirus SW available !! I've been using Eset Nod32 & Smart Security products in the office n home for last 2 years n till now they performed really well ... best thing about Eset products r their low resource utilization and simplicity in using!!

I also tried Kaspersky, it certainly ranks higher then Eset & more comperhansive solution but its lil heavy on resources and its security features are extra strict so its kind of difficult to use for less techies.

All in All I rank Kaspersky no #1 and Eset Nod32 no #2 !

I am not very sure about the number-1 but i m using AVAST from last 5-6 years reasults are really good i have never faced the problem in the regard of any Virus. And its available free on net.

AVG is good, but the best anti-virus progam out there is Bitdefender, it has the broadest spectrum. I am very happy with it, i can download any file without fear.
