    Thanks Dharmpalji,
I have not yet got the books. I will collect from Narendra Kharbji from Gurgaon.

Interestingly the many gotras of Nimach, Mandsaur and Chittorgarh found no mention in any of history books. So I took pains to search them. Earlier I had given many gotras from your history book on jatland list without distribution. Many of them now find the exact locations. That will help to expand Jat history further. I found Varaha gotra only in this area. I am of opinion that Varahamihir was from this gotra.

Varahamihira (वराहमिहिर) (505 - 587), also called Varaha, or Mihira was an Indian astronomer, mathematician, and astrologer born in Ujjain. Varahamihira's picture may be found in the Indian Parliament alongside Aryabhata's, of whom he was a follower. He is considered to be one of the nine jewels (Navaratnas) of the court of legendary king Vikramaditya (thought to be the Gupta emperor Chandragupta II Vikramaditya).

Our knowledge of Varahamihira is very limited indeed. According to one of his works, he was educated in Kapitthaka. However, far from settling the question this only gives rise to discussions of possible interpretations of where this place was. Dhavale [1] discusses this problem. We do not know whether he was born in Kapitthaka, wherever that may be, although we have given this as the most likely guess. We do know, however, that he worked at Ujjain which had been an important centre for mathematics since around 400 AD. The school of mathematics at Ujjain was increased in importance due to Varahamihira working there and it continued for a long period to be one of the two leading mathematical centres in India, in particular having Brahmagupta as its next major figure. [2]
So I have included him in the list of Ancient Jats on jatland Wiki.

    Kindly help in this matter.
    Regards,
    Laxman Burdak

    Nagavanshi Jats

I have done listing of Jat Gotras from Jaipur and Tonk districts on Jatland Wiki. Information about these clans can be be seen on Jatland Wiki at

    http://www.jatland.com/home/Jaipur

    http://www.jatland.com/home/Tonk

These are mostly from Nagavanshi kshatriyas. We had earlier put some information about Jat Gotras of Nagavanshi origin on Jatland Wiki but did not have their actual distribution. Now we have identified the villages in which these gotra people live.

These Nagavanshi origin Jat Gotras find mention in Ramayana and Mahabharata. The references from these epics have been given in the article of the Gotra on Jatland Wiki.

These Nagavanshi origin Jat Gotras and other Jat gotras of very ancient origin have been categorized as Ancient Jat Gotras. Clicking this category in any of these gotras one can access all such Gotras.

Nagavansh (नागवंश) or Nagavansha (नागवंश) or Nagavanshi (नागवंशी) or Naga Vansh (नागवंश) are very ancient and aboriginal kshatriyas. Nagavanshi were tribes which, had serpent as their totem. They worshipped serpents and consider them to be their protector deities. They were in origin indigenous Kshatriyas. They ruled all over India during historic and pre historic time.

Many Jat Gotras find their origin from Nagavansh, which have been listed here. This article also makes it clear why many Jat clans are named after animals and trees. The Brahmanical rishis, authors of Mahabharata and later authors and historians have taken the serpent worshippers i.e. nagas as real serpents, likewise, concocted myths have been added to them and their origin. The Aryans had wars with the aboriginal tribes the names which are found in many Jat clans of today. These Jat clans also show their antiquity as they find mention in Ramayana and Mahabharata. Most of the historians trace their origin in India from Taxila, from where they spread up in other parts of India. Their original seat was Taxila which was also the metropolis of serpent worship and the spot whence it spread all over India.

More information can be be seen on Jatland Wiki at

    http://www.jatland.com/home/Nagavanshi

Jat history in Mandsaur Madhya Pradesh

Jat history in Mandsaur district Madhya Pradesh

Mandsaur district in Madhya Pradesh, situated in the Malwa region, is very important from the point of view of Jat History. Mandsaur and its neighborhood are full of archaeological interest. An inscription discovered near the town indicated the erection of a temple of the sun in 437, and at Sondani near Mandsaur are two great monolith pillars recording a victory of Yasodharman, a Virk Jat King of Malwa, in 528 AD.

I have visited this area on 25-28 August 2008 and provided new facts linking with the Jat History. These are updated on Jatland Wiki along with Photographs. Interested members may see at links below:
