As for the topic of discussion, even I am not too clear of the exact goals and process of team presentations as some others pointed out. Jitu bhai, please explain.

If we take polythene issue as a sample topic, do you expect each team to send their comments on best way to solve the problem? will that be a final consolidated list from all team members and needs to be posted as the single response from that team?

Are judges going to review and tell whose idea/presentation was best on that topic?

What are the respective team leaders expected to do?

Why do you even need teams for this? Isn't individual contribution in a thread more or less same?

Hope to get more clarity on the goals. As for teams, we can have names for each team viz. Lathmaar Rockstars and don't limit no. of teams to 3 if you want to follow team concept. Also, provide an option for some 'Indpendents' too who don't want to be associated with any party but still want to participate!!

Thumbs up An idea can change our life !

Well, the race is about to start ! But can I come forward to suggest few topics which just came into my mind ?

The sample topic given to us is indeed an apt topic considering the present scenario and need of the hour, but in my opinion I found this topic to be revolving around certain scientific facts and it will be more of a search for already known measures and our personal input will be limited around assembling the various aspects related therein owing to our limited knowledge of the subject area.

Thereby I thought of few topics which are topics which have a vast scope for self-analysis and further evaluation, and moreover these speaks of societal benefit. In case we wish to pick any of these topics it will be even more thought provoking and even appealing to the members who are not participating as part of any team

I can come up with few more activities which can also be accommodated in this whole process to make it more interesting and a really never-before kind of thing at JL !

Liberalism, westernization & globalization – where to draw the line to retain our best, adopt the best and stay away from the rest?

What all can a common man do to change India for the better?

How not to let difference of opinions tear us apart, and arrive at the most apt one?

How do you think a common man can stand and fight against corruption?

We Indians are a mixed breed – how to co-exist, flourish and stand tall?

Every individual has immense potential – how to recognize and churn it for best results?

I know I can fly in the skies but I am too lazy to open my wings and give it a start – how to fight against our own self and kick start our dream life!

But wanna say one thing. It will be good if we can use 'OUR' rather than MY and YOUR and similar pronoun. It gives a feeling of team when we use OUR. Off course Leads are required for a group of ppl but just avoiding such words and use of words like OUR for whole team is more appropriate. No one is anyone's team. We all are in our team. This is my personal feeling

I think Polythene issue is of more imporatnce to everyone in this discussion rather than puking in with confused personal feelings at every single word of anyone's post.

    Such posts are turn offs!!
same is true with yr underlined words... i personally feel dev was nowhere wrong in pointing tht out. although it is obvious nd understood, but i guess heavens have not fallen if he said so.

Bhaiyo thanks for your inputs/queries. First thing I wish to clear is that I have started this with a feeling that its for all of us and if you found it feasible we can change it accordingly as to get maximum out of it.

Now what were my initial thoughts, perhaps I have shared in previous posts but still again I am jotting down them all-together.

    1) I thought of having some nice collection of material on some topics. these topics can be chosen by us. I had given an example. I was willing to choose topics related to some root level issue and that we can address some way or the other. Discussing a topic to lengths will not have any effect if that cant be applied in real lives. So I thought to pick topics like ... Polythene issue, Safe Driving (wear helmets, wearing belts, pollution check etc etc), Reduce power/water wastage (harvesting water and means to do it) ....

    2) I was thinking that such topics if discussed in teams with different people of different areas would yield good output in terms of material. Now Shweta said that there are obvious facts about polythene issue ... first its flexible to be changed but I feel that it will be better to go with easier or lighter ones first. Second though its obvious but for sure you will not find one stop document or presentation with all inputs to be taken directly for any presentation etc. We are doing discussions here on JL for many topics and I feel that if those energies can make a collection of nice docs or presentations it would be helpfull for members or others to use them in real lives.

    3) Now where I thought these would have been used ..... In Schools (by students, NGOs, Teachers etc.), In organisations (Some organisations are going 'Green' these days and members working in them can participate in organisation level debates or seminars or encourage their organisations with these presentations, material, charts to attaract attention towards these issues. Like for polythene issue ... if somebody take initiative in their respective organisations and ask them not to use polythene where it can be avoided like carrying lunches ... hope this will have some little contribution ... likewise many organisations dont shut their monitors or machines in night time ... we can go ahead and propose them solutions ... second how to reduce wastage of paper ... like by using printers those can print both ways ... and to encourage people only to print things when needed ... etc etc.)

Like JJ/ADAA or any other NGO Sparsh (Anil, nysha etc) may be able to use these to visit schools as they are the building blocks for future and making them understand can change the coming times.

    4) Now why this team effort and not individual posts like happening on threads .... also the team leader thing .... I thought and see in past that in threads people posts and there are several good points but I havent ever seen a full fledged ready to pick thing .... one have to spent lots and lots of time to do so. Like regarding Jat Reservation issue one person sent me a message long back and asked me to generate a complete ready to go document from your side. I have posted n number of posts but was not able or got will to do so. (THOUGH THIS WAS JUST AN EXAMPLE ... PLEASE DONT TAKE THIS JAT RESERVATION THING FURTHER ON THIS TOPIC BEING CONTROVERSIAL HERE ... )

So if we would be in teams, one person will be coordinating the team means picking one thing from other and discussing among them and distributing work like one will do cartoons/charts types, presentation or doc .... and club the material altogether and talk to judges if any concern (if we will be going to have judges for the same?) .... So I thought of having a one person in team to contact.

    5) Now yesterday Anil Dalal have come up with nice thought that I was also thinking. He said this was we will be having few teams and all will be doing the same redundant task. So it is better to pick several topics and then assign randomly to the teams. It will remove the redundancy and we will be having n number of topics discussed and good output material of them.

Also we can judge which team has better presentation, doc or which has best cartoon etc.

Now things which we can decide here:

    1) How many teams? 3-4 or many?
My thoughts are that first start with 3 only and we can improve by first experience later on.
    2) Time span ... aisa na ho ki baton mein hi lage rahe ki ye karna chahiye aur wo .. aur ho kuch na ... better is to start with some concrete and small in start and then we can increase it further after first experiment.
    3) What can be the topics? Say three for the time being?
Now I fear that people coming up with their inputs and not being picked will be irritated. But please dont do so.
    4) Judges ... if we really require them. Now if yes.
then will it be better to pick them from the teams only or some outside person. As nobody from the names mentioned have come up.
    5) What all should be there for the teams to prepare.
    My thoughts:
    a) A document related to topic. Covering the Issue, what are the causes, Where we are adding to it, How we can improve, real life things like in indian schools where we can reduce polythene usage, at homes (increasing jholla usage instead of polypacks), in organisations etc. What will be the benefit and our share to it. If we will not do so what may happen.

I think it should not be a thesis but concrete and nice real life with easy english language used so as to reach maximum. All things simplified and presented with examples and very real life small small things where we can bring change. Talking of changing system is the last step but we should think minimum that we can with very ease. Like making people to carry cloth carrier for lunch in schools or offices instead of polythenes, or to carry JHOLLA for carrying vegetables from market. Also wearing helmets and seat belts. I am sure many people will have many small small ideas.
Navin Bhai once rightly said that we start talking big at once but we should think of the bare minimum that we can do and not merely talk.

Here number of lines limitation can be done like 300-400 etc.

    b) Presentations that catch humans mind. Yesterday I was watching one Ad regarding "How Important is to Wear seat belt". They have shown that two cars got collided and there was a steering balloon too but even then the person died of the internal body parts wear and tear. Some artery of his heart got too much stretched with sudden shock and thats why he died.
It was catching one. So such kind of presentations can be there like we know in our country students dont wear helmets for shosha, mach ke ... ha ha ... so its time to address it and if we will be able to influence even a small number that will also be good. If presentations are good enough we as ADAA/JJ can meet different schools and ask them to play/slideshow it during some particular sessions.

Number of slides limitation can be applied like max 20-25 slides or so?
    c) Cartoon/Chart:
Cartoons/Charts will be required by the people to stick somewhere in their work area. We can take a print and use. If such can be build its great. I am sure Shailender bhai can do it really well. And they are indeed the stoppers.

    Please provide your views.

Jitender , I am sure you have started with the right approach. No process like this can be well defined at the initiation. It has to be iterative , we have to see how and what of response we generate and then can take it from there.
Though I would say that we should be at least looking at a presentation by each team or any of its members to some insitutions / schools / colleges under the banner of lets say JL so as to really venture into reality and that sounds very well for the future.

    4) Now why this team effort

Very essential to have a face which represents the team , We will let you know about ours pretty soon.

    5) So it is better to pick several topics and then assign randomly to the teams.

Absolutely agree , since we formed our team first and are already on the work , we take up the polythene one , please find other topics for the other teams.

    My personal opinions:

    1) How many teams? 3-4 or many?

Starting with 3 is not a bad idea , we can include more in second round.

    2) Time span ...

2 weeks is a good enough time i believe!

    3) What can be the topics? Say three for the time being?
Now I fear that people coming up with their inputs and not being picked will be irritated. But please dont do so.

Topic for each time , the people not included this time in the meantime can form their teams and we can include them in the next round!

    4) Judges ... if we really require them.

If we can find some volunteers , god enough , else i would go with 25% weight to the polls of members , and 25 % by judges ( if we dont find any , then some forced judges ( senior members ) , 50 % to the rival teams. Each team would be judging the content and presentation etc of the rival teams as well ).

    5) What all should be there for the teams to prepare.
A document related to topic. , Presentations , Cartoon/Chart , Anything else they wanna show.
Please note that we already have started to put our processes in place.

    Thanks,
    Anil

  7. #67

    Just a suggestion !

Let the judges suggest the topics !

That will make it more transparent. Hope appointed judges are learned enough and know what exactly is being asked for from the teams, so as to utilise this effort for the betterment of wherein required viz. ADAA/JJ .

  8. #68
Thanks Anil for such a positive response.

Samar and Jitender Takhar, please put final list of your teams. Also Samar/jit please include Nishant Rathi and Ramesh Lakra with you if have space as they have shown interest earlier.

Anil have chosen topic "Say No to Polythene".
Both the other teams are open to choose a topic of their choice that they found realistic and which can be applied in real scenerio by our NGO groups or somewhere by members themselves. And their contents also proove helpful to them.

So, Leaders please provide your final names and topics at the earliest.

Start your team work from today itself. Good Luck!!!

Submit your final material by December 20. We can then have polls till Dec 31st and on 1st Of Jan the final Result can be declared. (After the judges in place teams can approach them for any changes they require regarding schedule, but it will be better to be in timelines)

In the meantime I will chase seniors for their names for judges and by the end of next week we will be having 3 judges in place. Teams can then approach the judges for any of their issues.

    Thumbs up ...Interested!

...Okay folks, I am here too... one more interested party!

I am still trying to read thru the complete thread (gosh!) and gather the basic thumbrules that are being suggested/created; so personally still a lil' grey in some areas.... BUT anyways- 'am here!

Eitherways wouldn't even mind being that 'judge' as suggested (if that is even the right word for trying to critique any of the initatives that end up being discussed here) and/or as one of the contributors to a topic that totally grabs the imagination (think cartoons! :D),

BUT firstly I think Jitender you for one should go ahead and clearly lay down a set of rules, guidelines and format for the whole process- something like a manifesto [without being too careful of treading carefully... or trying to please everyone, I mean...]
You apparently have a thought (a method to this whole madness ) and we all would surely like to hear that fully laid out first by you the initiator and then can always (AT THAT POINT) give our two cents, fine tune if something needs to be changed on these rules and guidelines... but someone clearly needs to make that call first!
...Wouldn't follow the trodden path, but shall leave a blazing trail!!!...

  11. #71
Okay Hooda, Ramesh Lakra ji is in my team. So now we are full 5 members as of now.
"All I am trying to do is bridge the gap between Jats and Rest of World"

    My Team is:

    1) Prashant Nauhar
    2) Mukesh Kumar
    3) Shobhit Deshwal
    4) Satinder Goyat
    5) Neetu Sherawat

We also have chose one topic and that is, -

Farmers in India : Act before they become rebel !!

    a) Everyone in the country talk about the farmers and their problem but hardly there has been anything done to give a voice to their everlasting problems. Why this sorry state of affairs??

    b) There have been n numbers of agriculture oriented polices framed but irony is that not even a single time the main stakeholder (farmer) is taken into confidence, thus all policies failed miserably to address the issue. Why can’t a farmer be asked that, what he has to say on his problem?

    c) Why we (common people) don’t give much attention to their problems and never support them whereas we got too much worried when the Sensex falls down. Why such double standards approach? Will we act only when we will have the shortage of grain in stock?

    d) Today farmers don’t find much space in the election manifesto of political parties, where it used to rule sometime back? What it shows?

    e) Prices of Agri products are rocking but still the farmers are not getting their due as they are being paid the low prices in which they are even unable to recover the operation cost.

    f) Farming used to be a profit making business but today, it is a crush. How we could bring the old glorious days back? What could be done to regain the lost confidence of farmers?

So what we feel that there are n numbers of issues related to farming and farmers which, we can address and could even present workable solutions of all such problems, which could be very helpful as well.

Wish us luck guys !! ..

    Rock on
    Jit

    Thumbs up Polythene eradication drive

Good to see the below effort ... Log sambhal rahe hein ....

    http://www.tribuneindia.com/2008/20081117/haryana.htm#9
The Senior Citizens Club (SCC), Ladwa, launched a campaign to eradicate polythene bags and a cleanliness drive here today. The campaign was inaugurated by the chairman of the Managing Committee of Indira Gandhi National College, Dhanaura (Ladwa), Pawan Garg, under the leadership of project chairman Kailash Bansal, municipal commissioner, Ladwa.

The campaign, which started from Hindu High School, Ladwa, passed through Thakri Devi Girls High School, Shugni Devi Girls Senior Secondary School, Sangam Market, Athvadiya mandir, old sabzi mandi, Bajaja Bazar, Sarafa Bazar and Masjid.
It concluded near Brahm mandir and Khera mandir.
Besides senior citizens, other residents of Ladwa and Ladwa municipality employees joined the campaign and inspired the people not to use polythene bags and keep their surroundings clean.
They urged the people to avoid using polythene bags and instead of throwing them these should be destroyed as the polythene bags choke the drainage system, create hindrance in water recharge and destroy fertility if thrown in garbage. Meanwhile, SCC members appealed the state government to set up a polythene treatment plant in Ladwa and other towns.

    Hello Hooda,

I apologise for being late.Earlier I thought every team has to prepare over the issue of '' Polythene''.Since every team now has to come up with different topic , so my team would not go far away than JL.

    Our team's topic would be { JL: A Case Study: Online Virtual World's effectiveness and issues to increase its effectivity in possible means.}

Team members please note, we will have to start with our own JL about its scope, achievements, possiblities, potentials, etc.

PS: Any volunteer please feel free for advicing, suggesting in this case study of JL.But initially in PM or an email. It could be of great help to the site for fruitful ideas as well as to topic.
