I wont have any problems if its celebrated keeping the SURROUNDINGS in mind. People who visit malls, seeing INTERNATIONAL BRAND SHOWROOMS.... they suffer a hallucination AS IF they are not in India and start behaving Awkward as if they are foreigners. We can go on arguing to support it but how would it feel if you are in a MALL with parents/ bhai and see stupid couples indulged in kissing?

In India where we are shouting NOT TO SMOKE IN PUBLIC AREAS....where should we go when we across such incident? Now all don't support weird ideas in supporting these silly festivals....it may sound logical if Foreigners start keeping fast for Karva-chauth/ celebrate Diwali/ Holi/ Teej. And even if they start worshipping our GODS still can you think that they will have same honor for our deities as we have?

If we say this is just due to commercialization to sell gifts/ cards then what about the sale of same items in foreign? Aur ye love feeling ek saal ek k lie hoti hai to agle saal kisi aur k liye? Married couples might have objection....but how can a dialogue like "I LOVE YOU" be different on 14th Feb apart from all DAYS?

How many people remember indian festivals? And days like Amavasya or Purnima? Inka bhi kam mahatva nahi hai....Kheer bannti hai inn dino.

Kya hamarey paas itney kum avsar hain khush honey k ki humey western countries ki bhedd-chal mein bhagna padd raha hai?

Bhaisahab aap aisi anokhi vichardhara kahaan se nikal ke laate hain. Jahaan tak mujhe yad hai, bharat main abhi bhi democracy hai. To ban ka sawaal hi kaise uthta hai? Agar kisi ko koi bhi din manana hai aur woh usse shantipoorvak mana raha hai, to aapko kya pareshaani hai? Aapko achha nahin lagta to mat manaao. Koi ghar se to pakad ke le nahin jaayega aapko zabran yeh din manaane ke liye (halaanki holi pe aisa bi ho jaata hai ).

And why comment on other cultures? Indian culture won't become great by running down other cultures. In a connected world, there will be cultural exchanges and people will follow what they like. In fact, so many Western people are inspired by Indian spirituality, yoga, etc.

Waise personally mujhe bhi khaas pasand nahin hai, but for entirely different reasons. My wife has already gifted herself 2 sets of garments because of the occasion. And there are still 5 days to go :D!!!

I read somewhere something like this : We all don;t know whether God exists or not , but then why take the risk of it actually existing.

Something similar for these one off days ... We know love must not be constrained in a day or something but then why not ?


And people stop making lame excuses of it harming the indian culture , dont put your weakness on the western culture !

If we talk about Jats favour u favour non jats, if we talk about Indian culture (which is far better from western culture, if you have gone through it seriously) you again favour western culture. Kya bat hai aap Jaton se aur indian culture se inti naraz kyon rehti hain.

Ye holi, diwali, dushera, devi devtaon ki tyohar hain jo saal main ek din manaye jaate hain. Hamare yahan Maa baab per roj chhoye jate hain, bhai, bahin, aur biwi bachho se roj hi pyar kiya jata hai.

Aur haan jara giwainge kon kon di den hai western culture ki hamein acchi lage aur hamne apna li.

Than why do we take holiday on sunday....why ppl insist on convent education...why u r writing in english when u have no good command over english...:p write in hindi we will understand ur point better!

hehe what else would India copy from the western (almost all of them christian) countries? May be they should change the name of valentine's day to prem-pyar-mohabbat diwas? That may give the impression, it is an indigenous Indian festival? Already I see Indian girls wearing skimpy clothes showing more and more skin. I was told that this was not the case almost 15 years ago! It is as if floodgates have opened in the name of progress! That is some progress!
