    Well,

I think Samar also started a thread similar to this one. So if both are merged, will make more sense!

If someone is mergin the threads..can we keep the posts here on this thread..

    Nyways..
Thought Melbourne is a great place but waas fascinated by Sydney( the friendly rivalry between these two cities notwithstanding)
But had a couple of frnds camin here from Sydney..n goin by the tales..its a $hithole
very verry crowded, chaotic n ugly..may be just like Bombay,,may be would suit those people who wanna better career n income

    So, Melbourne hands down
    n yeah Gold-coast is gooood.

Apart from Melbourne, wanted to visit NewYork..dream destination..
as sung by Alicia Keys in latest hit -Empire state of the mind

    "New York!!!!
Concrete jungle where dreams are made of,
    There's nothing you can’t do,
    Now you're in New York!!!
These streets will make you feel brand new,
    the lights will inspire you,
Let's hear it for New York, New York, New York"

    would go soon..

I thought this thread was to focus on people travelling bit ..rather ...

better we stick to that ... Beleive me speeding is not worth doing it ...its a different case if we are driving on autobahn... I have had my fun too driving at 160 - 170 ks in a 110 speed zone on the ways to the coasts around brisbane...

n yeahh..u cant take the Melbourne outta some people haha
the laid pack, warm, affectionate people,,n its beautiful.
Maybe lags behind coz we dont have any landmarks to visit as opposed to Opera House in Sydney

n yeaaahhh..the Footy....cant wait for the winters to set..
The euphoria enthusiasm n the craziness in air..u can almost touch it!
Go Geelong..they won this year..(I saw to it lolz) despite the favored St kilda Saints..cracker of a match..unpredictable..they thrashed 'em good!

well just 110 ..sounds cool for us satyeshwar.. here in downunder ...

autobahn must be fun ..yea.. if i would be you ..I wont trust anybody to drive me around at that sort of speed though ... even a female schumacer... haha ..

yep .. I agree melbourne is cool .. ..i dont like sydney that much.

brissy is breeezy ... weather wise the best in australia ..not as big but have the gold/sunny coasts to boast of ...

coming back to my travelling bit ... here in australia ..

I have travelled and explored most of the eastern coast ...the best way to travel and see australia is road ..so thats what I did with couple of friends... we drove 6000 kms ..from brissy to cairns and did whatever we could on the way .. tropical cairns, snorkelling our way over great barrier reef, sailing in whitsundays, fraser island, moreton island, straddy island were good.

Camping in fraser island is the best thing i have ever done..

Then one other time we trvalled again on road down south ..to sydney melbourne.. canberra ..

canberra is really green ..only place to ski in austrlia .. I rather head to NZ for that..

I just like the fact that all these beautiful coasts - gold/noosa coasts.. surf ..rainforests are just a hour's drive from here ...
by the way for all those who dont know ... sunny coast is more beautiful place than the world famous gold coast...

    ...Hmmmm....

Would like to travel to maybe a small town Italy… one of those back roads, uncluttered (from touristic traps)…. villages that have those secluded, small but beautiful Tuscan villas sprinkled around the countryside available for renting over a long week maybe… and preferably overlooking the sea…

The idea would be wake up to the fresh, warm breeze from the sea… walk out with a sketch book and pad (and some picnic style basket filled with goodies including red wine, and bread), walk a meandering path down the hill, amply framed by those cypress trees and come to maybe a spot on an area with overlooking the cliffs where water can be heard crashing into the rocks far down below

And there finding a nice shade tree, for protection from the harsh Tuscan sun settle down on a spread to a full lazy day filled with musing and sketching… and drowsy (wine addled) siestas! :D

Later in the evening walk back for a quick change at the (your beautiful white) villa and then immediately head out towards the market place in the village square this time, where the evening lights are coming on and the soft music filtering out from small mom n’ pop style eating places beckons the lone, weary tourist and with promises of a fun filled evening surrounded with story-telling village oldies and beautiful belles….

    ...Travel moods...

...and here's attached a quickie sketch on the faithful lil' yellow stick-note...
(with an intent to hammer the idea of a fuller picture home... )

Okay, ...now one can spot the main village center somewhere amid the cluster of buildings on that far connected mainland on the left... those cypress (long pointy ones) trees too holding the edge of some meandering beaten pedestrian path back to civilization... and those crashing waves on the beach/rocks at the bottom...the setting tuscany sun.... and the bliss of sitting under a shade tree with a sketch pad to capture some beautiful moments (and memories)... [yeah, yeah....The wine bottle too is there somewhere....empty by now...!:D]...

Thanks mate... yeah, frankly I can picture such a cool travel quite passionately enough that definitely plan to do it one day... that is one day when I am all grown up! :D

Just kidding; but anyways, seems like at least one jatland member is all ready to 'just do it' after reading my post - Nerender here is all set to find that 'Jatti' (imported or otherwise ) ASAP and make a dash to get outta Dodge for the azure blue skies and under the Tuscan sun 'together'...!

ps. I totally agree: actually going with 'someone' would be the bomb! ....crooning the Scorpions rock band's ballad, "Let me take you faar away,...you'd like...a Holidaaay!"...(BTW, You should have pointed that out earlier... that way wudn't have made the guy looking like a devdas in that sketch!) :D

Melbourne is all right but it doesnt have anything like Darling harbour. Melbourne might be good as a living place but doesnt charm a visitor. So sydney takes a lead. ( your opinion might be different) And melbourne was too small. But casino is good and lucky too.

    Sakkath hot topic magga.

Traveling is the one trait I have inherited from my father if not all…he is avid traveler and have taken us along so many places. A person’s sophistication level can be determined by his traveling experience, the more you travel the more u become rich about your own existence, your own culture. One can honor this precious life by giving it an opportunity to explore the world by means of traveling. When we travel we find some places religious, some with scenic beauty some are windy, some are dry & chaotic as similar as human nature. In Spain, there is a statue exclusively dedicated to the traveler situated in Oviedo. Below is the list of places I have visited so far. This is not an exhaustive list.

State wise detail. (I m very detail oriented so endure with it)

    ü North West

Ø Jammu and Kashmir – Vashno Devi.
Ø RajasthanUdaipur, Ajmar, Pushkar, Naathdwara, bikaner.
    Ø Gujraat – Ahmadabaad,
Ø Maharashtara – Mumbai, Pune, ganpati pule, naasik , Shirdi.
    Ø M.P. – Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain
    Ø U.PRishikesh, Haridwaar

    ü North East

    Ø BiharPatna, Janakpuri
    Ø Assam – Guwahati
    Ø West Bengal – Dargiling , Siligudi.
    Ø NepalKathmandu, Virganj, Viratnagar.

    ü South

    Ø KarnatakaBangalore, Mysore
Ø Tamil Nadu – Chennai, Otti, Rameshvaram, Kanyakumari, Madurai, Koyambatoor
    Ø Andhra PradeshHyderabad, Tirupati balaji.
Ø Kerala – Kochin, Alleppey (backwater lagoons), Trivandrum.

    ü UnionTerritories:

    Ø Daman & div
    Ø Dadra nagar haveli.

And last bt not the least the west coast of India, Goa. Aeyoo rama, habba, deva so nice place it is… that’s how south Indians express their shock, surprise and sometime their happiness.

Following places I would like to visit in India:
    Ø Jaisalmer
    Ø Leh & ladakh
    Ø Kailash mansarovar
    Ø Kullu Manali
    Ø Tibet
    Ø Sikkam
Ø Khajuraho –(After I get hooked & booked.)
Ø Andaman & Nicobar. Bhai kuch bachna nahi chahiye…will conquer India Wholehearted. If I left any visitable place your advice is solicited. I would like to take month’s long break to travel to all pilgrimage bt that can be possible only when I dispense with the worry of earning. Will be visiting Osho commune in pune next month.

Will be covering USA next year. Europe will be covered after I get married. Africa bhi chelenge ek din baccho ke saath. Baccho ko aachi lagegi African safari…

yeah that's not a fun.but one can imagine the frustration when driving on a freeway, people behind or around are driving too fast and pushing you to drive fast..that adds up to the road rage..don't want to derail the thread anymore..
