Thread: Khap Panchayat and Indian Judicial System

The Supreme Court, Hindu Law, and the Jats.

The Supreme Court of India, in its pronouncements on the this issue, has recognized the Customary Law of the Jats, in cases of succession, property.

The Khaps made and followed this customary Law.

If the Supreme Court of India can recognize the customary law of the Jats in this , it should also be able to recognize the customary law in marriage and social relations.

Dr. Hari Dev Kohli has written a scholarly book on the subject.

This is now a legal issue:

Should the Supreme court not follow its own precedents, and recognize Jat Law?
