Dear RJS,Ifully agree with you that this person deserve no sympathy, but is this a way to teach him a lesson. In fact this kind of incident specially by hindus gives strength to such anti national elements. I think it is a matter or serious concern as well as shame for our country. Raj Thackrey and his people who did that should be arrested of physical assault on an elected member in the legislative assembly. Merely suspending them from the house will not enough. Not only that, these people should not be allowed to participate in any further elections at any level. To me issuing the warning something like Islamic clerics issuing the Fatwa.
The problem is that no statement has been issued by the PM or the President of the country. Are they immune to such happenings in our parliamentary system?
What about the public organizations within Mumbai and elsewhere in the country? What statements have been made by them? What about election commission? Why not someone files a writ petition to ban the MNS.

Strong agreer. Mere suspension is not enough. The reaction of the entire political class is shameless. Everyone seems to think that Marathis would be pissed off if action is taking against MNS. These people or so called Bhaiyyan of Bihar and Eastern UP are citizens of this Nation, they have same rights as you to make a living and better life for themselves. What Nitin has written is a fact that is so disturbing to any intellectual. When Mr. Varun Gandhi made a statement that was considered inflamatory, he was arrested and was even denied the bail. Here MNS leaders not only making a statement of this nature but also attacking the elected officials of the public who want to respect the national language, and not even a word from Mr. PM. That is a shame on our political system. I don't know if BJP came out with any kind of statement to condemn it. I am really disappointed.
We need to do something to revive our political system, the way we govern, and sooner we do better it would be.

Reading a statement like yours coming out from a Sr. Army Officer, and the elderly member is extremely disappointing. The statement made by you is not true. If an isolated incident happened with you, that is not the way people behave.
Firstly, an army officer does not make decisions based on caste. A good officer does not favor people based on caste but on how they perform. Those who do, don't make it big, for no single caste can make them successful in their mission. Army is a team work and success comes only when they work as a team. Let us not misquide our younger people.
Every one knew in the army that I am a Jat. My tow best instructors were from Maratha LI regiment. There were few who were by caste Maratha, and not only liked me but any Jat who performed well. They also rediculed or punished those Marathas who did not perform well. I think we are the people who look like a little more biased towards the caste system then most others.
But that is not the issue here. The issue is how to ensure that not only MNS does not do what they are doing, but also no new organization comes up with similar ideology. For that we need to have correct perspective thinking outside the caste box.

A fresh chargesheet has been filed against Thakerey for the attacks on non-maharashtrians in examination center last year. It is indeed a good news but I am hoping that it is not just an eye wash. In the news Thakreye's insolence can also be seen when he replies with "ha" to mark his presence while other replied with "ji". I have a Japanese friend. She was searching for an apartment and she happened to see one, whose occupants were Indian girls. My friend keeps her house immaculate but when she saw such a mess at the Indian girls apartment, she further cleaned her home. I asked her the reason for that and she said that in Japan we have a proverb that if you see something in others that you don't like then first you should fix it in yourself.

I am driving at the point that we have numerous threads on Jatland against caste politics, regional politics, Language politics and so on. On the contrary it is not unusual to see threads where we are illogically biased towards the Jats community and superiority. 12. We should be ready to die hungry or buy food at 10 times higher price but should not accept imports from other states
13. We should not allow any industry to be setup in Maharashtra because all machinery comes from outside
14. We should STOP using local trains.... Trains are not manufactured by Marathi manoos and Railway Minister is a Bihari
15. Ensure that all our children are born, grow, live and die without ever stepping out of Maharashtra , then they will become true Marathi's
