Whenever India need him, he failed to prove himself on the urgency. He lead but failed at the end when country need him. You can see the proof in 1st test against South Africa. He made a century exact 100 and after that he got out. India need his experience and excellency at that point of time.

Brian Lara, Ponting, Jaywardhane and many more are better than Sachin Tendulkar on this front i.e. urgency and need for country.

    Sandeep sir,
I don't what more you expect from a player......He proved himself again and again....Nobody can perform out of box everytime....He made this century in the 2nd inning where defeat was almost certain.....making century in that pressure was not a easy job.........I accept he has to continue.......I am sure Sachin also wants the same.......Tell me one player who wants to get out????........................But he is human being after all......We have to accept that thing also....One player can't change a test match......I think there is no need to give stats about sachin .......every body knows......

Now lets come to players you have mentioned are better than him. I think Brain lara is most close to him. There is no point of comparing them in ODIs.Sachin is uncomparable in that. Coming to test cricket....Out of 34 century lara only 7 times west indies wins in test matches. while India wins 19 times when sachin scored century in test. It may be true that Sachin cann't play innings like 375, 400 etc. what lara played in his career. It might also possible that lara is almost equal to him in Test But over all sachin contribution is much bigger than lara or any other player of his era. What happened to ponting when we beat them in their home truff......Sachin scored century in one final and 90's in other back to back???

Sachin is a true human being who plays for the country........and performing over two decades now...............still people are questioning his performance????????????????? It's really sad:o

Congrats to him. He carried the bat throughout the innings. SA bowlers were looking miserable in front of him. Its good he cracked double hundred against SA not against minnows like B'desh, Zim. Warnie tweets "I am glad I'm not bowling to him :D"

And the good part of his innings was that there were no dropped catches or no other chances offered...It was a flawless innings..Don't remember exactly Saeed Anwar's innings..Were there any chances offered?I believe India would have given him some chances for sure.

Many congratulations to the real master balster of cricket. No one else deserved this record more than him!

Indians did give chances to Anwar. I can remember that Sunil Joshi dropped him at least once and one run out chance was missed when he was playing with a runner (I think near about 20th over he called for a runner).

I remember Sunil Joshi pushed one catch over the ropes off Kumble and probably he hit 3 sixes in that over including that one. Not sure when that happened. Will ahve to digg more.
