India won 2 golds in kabaddi in both men and women events. Sad day for women wrestlers. Only suman kundu will battle for bronze in repechange, others including Geeta phougat were crashed out. looks like india will finish only with 3 bronze in all wrestling events.

According to a report carried by "Dainik Bhaskar" 12 out of 14 Gold Medalists are from Haryana (most of them Jats, perhaps). It is a matter of proud for all of us. They have really done wonders even without adequate logistics and have the potential to bring India at number one, if world class facilities are provided to them. A lot needs to be done for creating adequate infrastructure for sports in rural areas which has a vast reserve of promising athletes/players.

    Here is the link.

    VP Singh Ji

I believe, you missed something in your observation.
In fact some of the Gold medal winners are have done so in the team events.
4 of them are from Man's Kabbadi team and one or two are from women kabbadi team. Sanam Dalal won his gold with his doubles partner Somdev Burman.
I believe, only the two boxers, Vijender and Vikash krishan have won their gold medals in individual events.
Nevertheless, participant from Haryana have done exceedingly well and much better in comparison of other participants.

Heartiest congratulations to all the the medal winners!

Jasmer, jasbir, sonu narwal, jagdeep narwal are from Men's kabbadi team

Manisha Dalal from Women kabbadi team

Deshwal ji, I quoted newspaper's observation without counter-checking its veracity. I was not following the games very closely and took the newspapers report on face value. While watching TV a few minutes ago, I came to know about detailed medal tally. I was about to insert a clarification but in the meantime you and Prashant posted necessary corrections. Thanks to both of you.

Relevant excerpt from the newspapers is given below:

    Prashant

You can't imagine how far these politicians can go to boost their false ego and waste public money. Gagan Narang, who was born in Chinai, family settled in Hydrabad was awaded about Rs.37 lacs because his grandfather lived in Sambhalakha, Haryana in the past.

Also, may be somebody like Saina would be in the list, who was also honored after CWG.
She is haryanvi because she was born in Hissar, Hydrabadi as she lived most of life in Hydrabad, a UP girl for her ancestral links

Their may be some more players in their count like the above!
