    IPL is sport ?

Kya IPL sport hai, aur kya hame ise support karna chaiye ?

Jis tarah Lalit Modi ka naam aaya hai and kaun-2 isse judke paise kama raha hai.

Bowlers ho ya betsmen, bus gend fekani hai aur shot marna hai .. isse bhi upar kuch hoga to kya ?
    Regards

IPL is commericalisation of Sport. nothing more than that.
. it has given a chance to cricket players to earn money.

Whats wrong with earning money, aren't we all earning money??
IPL is entertainment channel, and it does help promoting cricket also, more players get chance to showcase their talent and i guess performance of player matters more in IPL to keep them in team unlike ranji where lot of people come with political back.
People who are making money in IPL are team owners, media houses, players, BCCI, sponsors etc etc..

If we talk about Gambling(satta), then thats prevailing in all forms of cricket, even all sacrosanct World cup was not untouched by it, so we cant blame just IPL on that matter, or any sport, its inefficiency of Indian government that they can't stop it, either they should make it legal and take D company out of picture or curb it, but blaming cricket for that is just naive.

Let me clear the Earn Money point.

The point for who is organizing. All other point are showing that here, the people involved are not playing cricket, the are sitting on it.

So, they way they are earning is good ? or are they supporting corruption in this too ?

I am not sure if i understood your point. i will try to explain my earn money point. People who are involved are stake-holders in IPL....players play the game and others either manage it or have invested in the idea, the business structure is as good as any corporate house. its a win-win deal, sponsors pay to TV rights, TV people pay to BCCI, BCCI pays to team owners and team owners pay to players, and we spectators enjoy the show.

The way they are earning- Its business, if IPL pays its taxes on time, then they are as fair business portfolio as reliance and tata. and about corruption, am not sure how you are fitting corruption in the equation. being private entity corruption could not prevail on large scale there.

As i said, treat it like Hindi movies and make your peace with them.

..IPL is a different format of cricket..our domestic players are getting international exposure because of IPL..overall there is improvement of game..india is getting fame all our world because we host IPL nd hiring every genius to play..i think we should be happy about it.
..we should not be sad because someone is earning money, and that someone is also working hard to select a team and responsible for every player.
if a domestic player is facing brett lee or morkel or stayne, getting coaching from wasim akram, murali or any genius then i think its in our benefit.
.i dont know y ppl are abusing IPL or saying its nonsense..i dont see IPL very often but its my view..
    .rest all is individual understanding..

No doubt, IPL provides great exposure to young professionals. Many Ranji players wouldnt have made a decent livelihood for themselves if not for IPL. Rajiv Bhatia is one example. He was good in Ranji but never got a chance to play for the country. But he has shone in IPL and made a name for himself.

On the other hand, IPL has reduced certain skills of cricketers that were earlier looked as prized possessions. A budding fast bowler now knows that he only needs to learn the yorker and the slower ball and he will be successful in IPL and his life will be made. In 20-20, there is no need for an outswinger, an inswinger or a reverse swinger. The same goes for batsmen. A young batsmen entering senior cricket would only focus on hitting sixes and boundaries. He wouldnt spend time learning about covering the line, leg glance, forward defence etc because these arent required in 20-20. All these skills will be extinct.

And we can already see the effect of too much 20-20. Suresh Raina who has talent still cant play the short ball. He doesnt know whether to duck or hook the bouncer. Same is the case with many new batsmen. These batsmen will be found out in test cricket. In test cricket there is no hiding place. The bowlers will be relentless and if you cant face a particular delivery the bowlers will find you out and target you. But in 20-20, the batsmen knows he just has to get a few hits and the game will be over in 3 hours.

What is required is a balance between formats. Right now 20-20 has so much money as compared to Tests that every players would be ready to play IPL for 3 months and avoid tests. But Test cricket is the real test. I dont enjoy 6 sixes by Chris Gayle as much as I will enjoy a Laxman trying to negotiate Dale Steyn's swinging deliveries on the seaming conditions of Newlands. The contest in the second case is far far more exciting and watchable.

IPL is the biggest thing happened to the Indian sports after Dhyanchad.
