It's certainly a big loss for JP as he has not signed for AIC and there is a general outcry against corruption that will go against the ruling party.

Combined with this, the "mirchpur" incident, it appears that JP has lost the ground already.

Further, Bhajanlal being perceived as the most corrupt ruler of Haryana, the advantage would now be clearly on Chautala side.

Hisar His hand supporting his chin, his message blaring out from loudspeakers, Anna Hazare is in play in an unlikely contest in an unlikely part of the country. As the Hisar Lok Sabha seat heads for a bypoll on October 13, Team Anna has made the contest the first political test of its Jan Lokpal campaign — and got three of the candidates to give in writing that they would support its version of the anti-corruption Bill in Parliament and at Standing Committee discussions. In this region to which crucial Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal belongs, India Against Corruption volunteers have taken over the streets — making a dash for every vehicle entering the walled city, handing out handbills, and putting stickers and badges on every person and car be they so willing. Youths on motorcycles stick their chests out to proudly sport the badges.

Slogans printed below Anna’s smiling portraits declare: “Is baar Jan Lokpal ko vote, taaki bhrashtachar ki jad par lage chot (This time vote for Jan Lokpal, strike at corruption at its roots).” Volunteers sport red T-shirts or caps declaring “Main Anna hoon”, while torch-light processions and demonstrations have come to town.

Leading from the front is Rajesh Jakhar, an advocate who heads the local branch of IAC. “This is the first time we are putting to test our decision to make the Jan Lokpal Bill a poll issue,” he told The Indian Express. “This is the first phase of our drive.” The bypoll was necessitated by the death of former Haryana chief minister Bhajan Lal.


Jakhar claims the campaign has drawn a good response, including written assurances by candidates Kuleep Bishnoi of the BJP-Haryana Janhit Congress combine, Ajay Chautala of the Indian National Lok Dal and Sudesh Agrawal of the Samast Bharatiya Party to back the IAC version of the Bill in Parliament. That followed IAC’s assertion that while it would not back any candidate, it would urge people to vote only for candidates swearing to support the Jan Lokpal Bill.

Jai Prakash, fielded by the ruling Congress, has obviously ignored the issue.
“We have set the deadline for October 3, after which we would fan out in the constituency to embark on the second phase of our poll-linked drive,” Jakhar says. This would continue till October 13, polling day. IAC plans to hold public meetings to mobilise support.


The campaign has attracted a wide range of followers — quite like during the Delhi protest — from the middle and the educated class. Sanjay Brahmachari, with his matted hair and ascetic outfit, is the first to catch one’s eye. A law graduate born and brought up in Ranchi, he has made Beewal village, located in Mahendragarh district of Haryana, his home. He is now the sarpanch of Beewal, winning on the strength of his campaign against corruption.

Then there is orthopaedic surgeon Dr Lalit Bansal, who has put a lucrative practice on hold to distribute handbills and paste stickers. Agricultural scientist Dr Mahavir Sharma claims the campaign has become a second passion for him after his pesticide business.


Asked if senior Team Anna members would be coming for the campaign, Jakhar said: “They have all expressed their willingness, but we would invite them on the basis of the demand of workers.” Hopefully, he adds, “Arvind Kejriwal would be back from his current vipasana (meditation) programme to lead our volunteers.”

पुनर्वास के लिए ये सब कर रहे है। उन्होंने कहा कि ये दोनों अपने काम धंधे के लिए
अन्ना के साथ लगे हुए है।इसलिए अन्ना से इस तरह की बातें बुलवा रहे है। उधर हिसार
लोकसभा सीट को कांग्रेस की झोली में डालने की लिए रात दिन एक किए मुख्यमंत्री
भूपेंद्र सिंह हुड्डा ने कहा कि कांग्रेस तो पहले ही जन लोकपाल बिल के समर्थन में
है और हरियाणा में उन्होंने भ्रष्टाचारियों के खिलाफ मुहिम छेड़ी हुई । हुड्डा ने
कहा कि रिश्वत लेने और देने वालों को बख्शा नहीं जा रहा है। केंद्र में सोनिया
गांधी और मनमोहन सिंह ने बड़े बड़े भ्रष्टाचारियों को तिहाड़ पहुंचा रखा है।
हालांकि हुड्डा ने अन्ना के कांग्रेस को वोट न डालने के आहवान को लेकर अभी कोई सीधी
टिप्पणी नहीं की है।

गठजोड़ भाजपा के साथ है जो पहले ही अन्ना के साथ है। ऐसे में वो पूरी तरह से
जनलोकपाल बिल के समर्थन में है।

बैनर ले आदमपुर पहुंच गए है। पोस्टरों में साफ लिखा है 'जो उम्मीदवार नहीं करता जन
लोकपाल को स्पोर्ट, उसे नहीं मिलेगा हमारा वोटÓ। यही नहीं हिसार में भी अन्ना
समर्थकों ने पोस्टर और बैनर लगाने शुरू कर दिए है। अन्ना समर्थकों का कहना है कि
शाम से हिसार के लाहौटिया चौक से जन संपर्क अभियान को तेज कर दिया जाएगा। अन्ना
मूवमेंट के सक्रिय सदस्य राजेश जाखड़ ने कहा कि जन लोकपाल बिल का समर्थन कांग्रेस

Samar bhai..... I think you are mising one thing ----- team anna has not asked to vote for AJay or Kuldeep. They are not favoring anyone but opposing everyone who has not signed to support the bill. If voters do not find ajay or kuldeep good - do not vote for them. Anna will not force anyone.

Further, if Ajay and kuldeep both are corrupt - let us not vote for them. But at least qboth of them have agreed on paper that they will support Jan Lokpal Bill in future. That committment on paper is better than JP or Congress who have not agreed to it. Election is not for life time..... Only 3 years are left and despite signing if they oppose in parliament - Log aagle election mein KAANCH kadh denge.........

As far as the corruption charges are concerned, it's an open secret that the ruling party has been abusing the judiciary and the enforcement for keeping all those who had opposed it's ideology under it's whip. You name any opposition party, and they all are under some charges, corruption or whatever.

Going by your own logic, how can one believe in charges levied by one who has "sold the country's prestige in commonwealth games"; who had send "Anna" to "Tihar" and "gundas to the temple, called parliament"?

The aim, the first milestone, of IAC is to bring in a strong Lokpal Bill which will be a strong deterrent to Corruption. If any of the candidates who have pledged his/her support, win, that would be the win for AIC.

A good deed is a "good deed" irrespective of who and what kind of person does it.
