Thread: Can we make the JL only visible to members?

Can we make the JL only visible to members?

One point which has come up on various occasions during discussions with fellow Jatlanders is that of privacy of Jatland.com or rather the non-existence of privacy of Jatland content on the net.

All the pictures, photos, threads, personal views and comments of Jatlanders are visible to anyone and everyone on the web. You just need to put in the search word on GOOGLE.COM and anyone can view all the personal comments/views that one has posted on JL exclusively for fellow Jatlanders. In fact, this non-existence of privacy discourages many members to not post their views/opinions on various issues important to the community/nation.

Would like to discuss with the Editor/s and fellow members if it is possible to have a separate website for JL exclusive of Wiki, thereby making it a private forum exclusively for the Jats and Jatlanders where everyone can freely express himself/herself without the fear of their non-Jat colleagues/so-workers/fellow students reading their personal views/comments on the issues concerning the community/nation.

Would it involve substantial cost to have a website independent of Wiki? If yes, is it not possible for all the members to pitch in and contribute towards it?

Threads are accessible to everyone, but neither member photos, nor their profiles are accessible to non-members. Also, please realize that you are putting your comments up for 17000+ Jatland members to see so they can hardly be considered personal. This is a public forum and we have deliberately kept it that way. It also ensures that prospective members can take a look at what is being discussed, and only if interested, can join this website. Without keep the content open, there is very little incentive for new members to join. It won't be possible to keep a secret section which non members aren't allowed to see.

You are right Friend. It is the best possible use of the platform as we are engaged in public debate/discussion on various issues of public importance so it must be kept transparent to all.

Satyeshwar, this(underline and bold) is not the true argument. This forum will not be able to generate revenue if it is not accessible to everyone.

    Mr. Gulia,
Your argument couldn't be further from the truth. The revenue that this site generates is not even sufficient to pay for all the expenses on a monthly basis. We have gone to great extents to save our members from "in your face" type advertisements so that it doesn't dilute their experience when they visit the site. And we will continue paying for it from our own pockets regardless of advertising.

There is a place in Delhi named "Rani Bagh". I say its irony at it's fullest!
