Anyways, his interest in Dionysus itself explains his interest in Jat History !!

    Danielou was a musician.

He was not a historian by profession.

Let us not get excited or give him more credence simply because he was/is of European origin

    Friend,

See Shri Ravi Chaudhary's post and also his contribution to Jat history except saying 'seems' and ' probably' type of findings.

    Thanks

Not only funny but the information about him has come at right time, when, we have once again started to lean towards foreigners views disproportionately regarding several issues of our ancient history.

We should also appreciate Danielou's intellectual ability.

He lived in and taught in India for a number of years. he took a deep interest in Hinduism, and Indian culture, nad brought out a number of books on Indian culture incuding music, religion and history.

He took a lot of interest in the preservation of Indian culture.

He also displays the ability and flexibilty,to cover a number of diverse subjects with intellectual rigour.

I was overly harsh on him

    Chaudhary Sahib,

If it is so we bow our heads to him for what he has done for our culture and heritage.

Since we do not know him and his work, if you are aware about his some specific contribution towards enrichment of Jat History, it would be our pleasure to know.

    Thanks and regards

In fairness, Jat history is not a priority for people visiting or studying India

He did recognize the Guptas were Jats.

Coming from an unrelated field- Classical music, he had no axe to grind or undue bias one way or the other.

He also did not get influenced by the Music teachers and Professors of Banaras Hindu University. The latter would have pushed the standard dogma, ' Brahmin , Kshatriya' syndrome etc.

It appears he did his own research and made up his own mind.

To that extent he appears to be more reliable than the ' trained' historians' of the era.
