Their mode of worship is to remember God and express their gratitude to Him at any and all times. They do not, and have never believed in rituals and worship of idols or evil spirits. That is why no religious shrine of any importance exists in the Jat area. They do, however, believe in a form of ancestor worship. Certain days and customs are observed to propitiate the dead. Every village has a little shrine called Bhaiyan. It is a modest samadhi of the first man who died after that village came into being.
On certain days women visit this shrine, light a Ghee lamp, fold their hands and say, "0 grand father look after our menfolk and cattle". Men seek his blessings before proceeding to perform on important task like house building, marriage or battle. Married couples pay their homage to him the very next day after' the bride comes to her husband's home. This Bhaiyan worship is, however, carried out by individuals when and in whatever manner they choose. There is no fixed prayer, no rituals, no offering of money or foodstuff and no middlemanship of a priest.

Jaisingh ji, if I may, I think its irrelevant to the larger topic to debate on whether the ancestor worship shrine is called Dade Bisade or Bhaiyan. Nomenclature differs between areas of the same region so it shouldn't be surprising to see people living in different areas using different names. The bigger point of relevance is that Jats put their ancestors at a higher pedestal than religious Gods. History suggests that a Jat be it may of whatever official religion will always be of independent spirit unrestrained by religious edicts. But things are changing. Bonds of tribal relations are being broken and religious ones are being strengthened.

To do a fair comparison one has to look at both the positive and negative sides. One cannot just look at all the good points of a particular religion and proclaim it to be the best or its followers as ahead in every field.

Sikhs and Christians have the highest per capita income in the country. So there goes the hypothesis about non-Hindus.

Further, there is no favored religion of God. Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism were at their glorious best in the ancient age. Islam rose in the medieval age via Arabs, Mughals and later the Ottomans. Christianity's golden period started from the Renaissance and has continued uptill the modern age. Nobody knows what the future will bring. Any of these religions might take centre-stage or a new religion might arise and garner glory.

Also, there was a certainly a religion or an organized form of worship before Hindusim. Whatever it was that our ancestors followed before Hinduism, be it animistic or pagan, are we trying to say they were suffering and on a wrong path? What gives us the right to condemn them by saying only those who were Hindus were good?

To say my religion is the best and the greatest of them all, is akin to being complacent and guilty of self-serving praise.

Brother, thanks for your kind reply, but I will do ask you how can you claim that Sikhs and Christians have highest per capita income in the country. Goa is the state which has highest per capita income and around 70% people are Hindu there. Delhi is 2nd in this regard and around 80% people are Hindu here. 3rd is Haryana and around 90% people are Hindu there.

जैसा कि तुमने बताया हरियाणा में लोग हिंदू धर्म को आगे बढ़ाने में लगे हैं तो यह वे बहुत ही बढ़िया कर रहे हैं। सूरजमल, जवाहरमल, छोटूराम को भी हिंदू धर्म बहुत ही प्रिय था। सभी जाटों को हिंदू धर्म को आगे बढ़ाने का नेक काम करना चाहिए। जरूरी नहीं है कि इसके लिए मंदिर ही बनवाए जाएं या पूजा-पाठ को बढ़ावा दिया जाए। हिंदू होने का मतलब यह नहीं है कि रोज मंदिर में पूजा करनी है या माथे पर तिलक लगाकर रहना है। हिंदू होने के लिए और इसे आगे बढ़ाने के लिए बस खुद को हिंदू कहना ही काफी है। कोई और इससे ज्यादा कुछ करने की इच्छा या क्षमता रखता है तो वो करे।

Upender ji, its extreme over-simplification to attribute a community's success on its religion. There are a lot of factors that decide whether an individual or community excels or flounders and religion can be one of them but not the most important. A Buddhist Dalit born in US will certainly outdo a Hindu Brahmin born in India in every field. Its the environment and support structure that matters more than religion.

Its purely futile to argue which religion is better based on performance in sports or industry. There are a many other factors part from religion that lead to excellence of a community. Jews don't have a stellar record in the Olympics, but can anyone argue against the fact that they are among the most socially and economically progressive communities in the world?

Hockey is a sport that has long been dominated by Sikhs. Please check how many Sikhs were member of previous gold medal winning teams and the current team. Please wiki Sansarpur, a small village in Jalandhar that gave 7 gold-medal winning Olympians to the country.

There have been 2 Army Chiefs, one (and only) Air Marshal and so many military leaders from a community that was hardly ever more than 2% of the country's population.

Can I use these figures and say, Sikhs are better that every other community? NO. There are many other factors to measure. Literacy, Sex-ratio etc.
