Even after 1947, several great Jat personalities have contributed significantly for Nation building.

Let us first of all remember and pay our tribute to Maharaja Suraj Mal, the all times greatest sons of the Jat community, for his life and contribution to the service of motherland.

http://www.jatland.com/home/Maharaja_Suraj_Mal contains the below mentioned information in the opening para :

Maharaja Suraj Mal (13 February 1707 - 25 December 1763) (महाराजा सूरज मल, भरतपुर) was ruler of Bharatpur in Rajasthan in India. He has been described by a contemporary historian as "the Plato of Jat caste" and by a modern writer as the "Jat Ulysses", because of his political sagacity, steady intellect and clear vision. He was the greatest warrior and ablest statesman.

    Dear Rajpal Ji,
You are right that we should highlight the contributions of all our leaders after 1947 also. It should be irrespective of party & politics.
Great Jats who fought for independence

1.Maharaja Nahar Singh - He fought against British alongwith Bahadur Sahah Zaffar. He was hanged openely to a tree which was in front of TownHall in Chandni Chowck Delhi. It is very socking that the Govts in Delhi never care for that place . That tree was even cut by Govt Officials because that place was not associated with Gandhi & Nehru Family. It is samefull that no Govt. in Center & Delhi care for that.
2.Raja Mahendera Partap Singh - He contributed a lot in helping Azad Hind Fauj to stand.

    Post Independence
1.Natwar Singh - Founder of Indian Foreign Policy. Insulted by Congress leaders and throughn away by Congress.
2.Chaudhary Charan Singh - a) Founded Bhartiya Kissan Union and then handed it over to farmers leaders to function independently.
    b) Abolished Jamindari System in UP . Ahirs ( Yadavs) of East UP got bebefit for it.
    c) Even China gave due respect for the economic thought of Chaudhary Sahib to promote small scale industry at village level and develop technology for that, sorry but no Indian Govt supported him on this issue. Even all the ruling govt joked that.
    3.Chaudhay Devi Lal
    a) Great Social Thinker of the post independent India. He struggled for separate Haryana State.
    b) Great Social Vision - Old Age Pension and respect for elders. He started it first time on large scale in Haryana. That that the Cong. party even put a lot of jokes on that. Now all the states in India & Central Govt is following that.
    c) Increase the Land Compensation for the first time. He increased the Land Compensation from Rs.80,000/- per kila given by DDA to Rs.23 Lacs per kila ( 5 Bigha) for the first time in Indian History despite opposed by complete burrocracy at center and state. Now all the party are following that.
    d) Aid to SC family for their daughter marriage.

Dr.Sahib Singh Verma He was the first leader in Delhi who started development work in Delhi Villages, Before that all the development work was done only in new delhi area. Villages in Delhi were treated untouchable.

These contributions benefitted all the casts and communities.

    Regards
    Krishan Lakra

This Jatland wiki page needs expansion on the massive contribution of Baba Shahmal Tomar, the great but lesser known martyr of 1857:
Baba Shah Mal was a Tomar Jat resident of village Bijraul in the pargana of Barout in Uttar Pradesh. His role in the freedom movement of 1857 is unparallel. The farmers of the area had suffered from over-taxation by the British in the years prior to the outbreak of the first freedom movement in 1857. Shah Mal put together a combined force of Jat and Gujjar farmers of the area. His army attacked and plundered the tahsil of Barout and the bazaar at Baghpat. [1] Within a short period he took hold of 84 villages of Tomar Desh Khap. During the revolution of 1857, he made his headquarters at bungalow of Irrigation Department on Yanuna River and supervised and controlled his operations from there. The British army could not face the army of Shahmal. Graves of British Soldiers and Officers killed on 30th and 31st may, 1857 can be seen today at the Meerut Road Crossing near Hindon River. The British officer Dunlap could escape very marginally in a war with army of Shahmal in July 1857. Unfortunately the turban of Shahmal got entangled with legs of his horse. An English officer named Parkar who new Shahmal took advantage of this situation. He not only killed Shahmal but also cut his body to pieces and chopped his head off. The British army hanged the head of Shahmal on a jawline to terrify the public on 21 July 1857.

PS: I do not definitely remember the name of the book, I had once read a well researched Article about the enormous efforts put in by Ch. Shahmal Tomar to oust the British from western U P. Perhaps, it was one of the issues of Subaltern Studies ed. by Guha. If some scholar has access to all the issues, kindly check out and share the information please.

Chaudhary Mehtab Singh Sheoran from Pachgama village near Badhra in district Bhiwani of Haryana was unanimously elected as the Raja of Dadri ilaqa of the then Jind State after the ruler of Jind was showing reluctance to join India on the eve of freedom in 1947. In the presence of thousands of people there he declared the merger of Dadri in Indian Union which step later was approved by the Jind ruler as de jure !

Kindly expand the post by adding extra notes/information on this important event and come forward to pay homage to the leaders and the people who fought for making India great !

Such great were efforts of the Jats of the region and such great were their leaders that need written in the golden letters on the pages of history of freedom fighters.

The great Freedom Fighter, popularly known as the Jat Peshwa, Raja Mahenra Pratap of Mursan in Uttar Pradesh, was the first person who rebelled against the British and established the First Azad Hind Sarkar in Kabul in 1916. He became its President with Barqatullah Khan from Bhopal as the Prime Minister and tried to free India with the help of foreign aid particularly from Germany, Afghanistan, Iran, Tibet, Japan and of course, the USA. For this purpose he undertook ardous journeys met government heads and common people to solicit their cooperation in the fight against the British domination over India for over 30 years.

He was a great votary of World Federation and was against the political division among the nations with geographical boundaries which prevented free flow of people from one place to another.

In free India, he fought election for Lok Sabha twice, once won and once lost.

He opened First Technical Institute to commemorate his son in the style ''Prem Mahavidyalya'' in his royal palace at Varindavana when there was none in the country. The gesture was greatly appreciated by leaders of national movement after visiting this technical college including Gurudeva Rabindranath Tagore and Mahatma Gandhi.
