Also, regarding Point (1). We know that Maharaja Ranjit Singh's ancestor Budh Singh was a cultivator and a landowner, and obtained Chaudhriat (a jagir, in a sense), i.e. he was also a titled Chaudhry.
(8) If we know that Sansi Jatts still exist in Gujranwala, but a "Sansi" nomadic tribe is nowhere to be found... how can the "Sikh historians" be so sure that Maharaja Ranjit Singh was not a Jatt, where his ancestory, relation, occupation, socio-economic and leadership status all seem to indicate that he is a Jatt?
Looks like we've got to analyze the sources from which the idea originates.
