Flamenco dance has its origin in Kathak and arrived in Europe through Roma gypsies. Jugalbandi of Kathak and Flamenco is becoming very popular lately. Watch this;

It seems Roma Gypsies are rediscovering their Indian roots slowly.

There is lot of fuss and talks about Gypsies through out the world:
Some facts to consider:
- It has been proved that the present day Gypsies of Europe migrated from North West Bharat i.e. India, Pakistan, Afghanistan.
- Migration of so called Gypsies from North West Bharat happened around 8th century AD due to wars that took place in the name of religion in north west of ancient Bharat.
- Now the main question arises who were the people living in North West Bharat around 8th century AD and before 8th century AD?
- Alexander the great came to India around 300 years BC, so there were lot of his people who did not leave north west Bharat i.e they were living in North West India, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
- Lot of tribal migration happened in the area of North West Bharat for e.g. Scythians last known migration occurred around 4 th century AD, Tocharians, various Turkish tribes also migrated in the same time period and time before that.
- Similarly there were all small big tribes which migrated into this area in form of armies or people migrating and trying to find a new place to live.
- This kind of migration has been happenening throughout ages, in different lands and different places in the world.
- Often some portion of these travelling and migrating people mixed with local populations of the land while a group still tried to maintain their original identity. Often such communities formed their own identities in their new land of migration. This has been happening through out ages.
- Interesting fact is, all of these tribes were Indo European tribes who at some point of time either came from Europe or Migrated to Europe e.g, Scythians migrated to parts of central Europe, so did other similar tribes. Lot of Slavic tribes, lot of British tribes can trace their ancestry in similar way.
- So, in fact the people who migrated in form of Gypsies around 8th century AD were part of Indo European tribes which were migrating to and from Europe and ancient Bharat over a vast time period.

Migration that happened to and from India, happened in different tribal forms as in ancient times people often traveled in similar group of people, and mostly these groups were made because of similar cultural ties, related families, clans, tribes, etc. So saying that all "So called Gypsies" migrated at one time period, migrated together, migrated through similar root of migration, etc. might not be true.
These people could have been people who left their country of original residence due to wars, and as travelling in ancient times was usually done on horse backs, on bullock carts, etc. these tribes might have taken a long period to reach present day Europe.

So, present day Gypsies in this context become a mixture of different kinds of people who were living in north west of India or ancient Bharat as we call it.
