Would it not be better if, instead of personal comments on one another, we concentrate on the theme of the thread !!

Phoenix Third Front and General Elections 2014

For the last few decades it has come to notice that regional parties have been emerging in different parts of the country and they want their greater say in deciding the affairs of the country. In view of their political clout some national parties also look towards them and try to forge pre poll alliances or seat adjustment to give fight to other groups of political parties. Say this time this is being attempted to bring together at the present juncture 11 such parties under one banner to prevent both the U P A and N D A to emerge either of them as ruling group of parties.

Views of participants are solicited as to the possibility of emergence of a strong and viable alternate to UPA and NDA and the policies and programmes of this new Phoenix type emergence of Third Front. What would be the impact of this new attempt on the Lok Sabha General Elections 2014 and then on the post election India.
History is best when created, better when re-constructed and worst when invented.

Sir - Iss 3rd front mein MPs kam aur PM ke umeedvaar jyaada hote hain !!! They are just fooling people to get their own seats so that later they can blackmail BJP / Khaangress for outside support.

Shukr hai In Haryana, INLD Supremo has stopped talking about 3rd front and his son is openly promising to support Modi

Important issue sir, that we should decide some what collectively to be meaningful. I feel In the absence of any substantive choice stability is important enough factor. There is strong negative wibes for congress, no question of wasting votes for it. AAP has created enough chaos and again is not capable of managing the huge country. The party has killed its own laid principles brutally. The so called third front is a conglomeration of of the people who are isolated, diverse and fulfill of roles only to fight their existence in power. BJP so far has behaved in disciplined manner, seems to be doing well on national front. I believe when other option are non existing, it will be a good choice to help BJP get a reasonable strength so that it works meaning fully.

Let us discuss this ''bunch of PMs'' here.

Undoubtedly, there are several aspirants to the coveted post but none has support of more than a handful of members of parliament to justify their claim.

They swear by standing to secularism and unity but some of the constituent parties never miss to raise, regional, casteist and other self-negating issues from time to time.

Moreover, there is no national level acceptable leader to steer their boat contrary to as had been the case in 1989.

Hence it seems much hue and cry without any foreseen-able gains by taking up this 'futile' exercise !

Let us start with HD Dewegowda. Ek number ka motha !! He and his sons got 4-5 seats last time and were ready to join Congress at centre. Remmeber, HD Kumaraswamy (devegowda's elder son) was seen hiding his face while going to meeet Sonia Gandhi.

See this link on the episode : http://ibnlive.in.com/news/third-fro...447-37-64.html

Same Devegowda and family is again in the 3rd front.

    Sir,
Well summarized and perfectly said. We as a community must understand the need to support a single party at National level. State elections can be seen with a different point of view. For now BJP is the best bet for center stage.

Then there is Sharad Yadav, whose party enjoyed all benefits of ruling in alliance with B J P In Bihar, and now aspires to become Prime Minister himself by hobnobbing with so called 'secular forces'. For considerable time when his J D U had alliance with B J P, it was not communal and after parting company with them, now other than his earlier ally are secular or non-communal.

Paswan's LJP too distanced himself from the NDA after 2002 but he's cozing up again. I distinctly remember him hilariously giving an interview with a Osama look alike in a pathetic attempt to garner Muslim votes after 9/11 attacks. All's forgotten now, in the quest for power.
