Delhi Police - Screen out Jat applicants

Delhi Police plans to screen out Jat applicants

In a very disguised manner Delhi Police is planning to screen out Jat applicants by conducting Pan-India online recruitment drives.

The idea behind the scheme is that when Delhi is cosmopolitan and has people from all across the country, why should Delhi Police not be cosmopolitan in comparison to the present recruits from Delhi and nearby states.

If other states do not have this policy, why are the eligible youth from Delhi/NCR being deprived of their rightful share. But the problem is that Jats do not have a representation either in the centre or the state in terms of a forceful leader who can take up their cause.

Why should Delhi/NCR youth be made to compete with the youth from all across the country when similar facility is not available anywhere else in the country and when the vacancies in Delhi are rightfully theirs.

Also, the cleverness in this scheme is that it has been dressed in the garb of a modernistic cosmopolitan approach/manner. Anybody who opposes it would be seen to have a very narrowistic approach.

Whatever way we see it, the losers would be the Jats against whom a very sustained and sharp campaign is underway since decades in terms of restricting their representation in govt. jobs especially in Delhi and more particularly in organizations like Delhi Police and DTC.

Surely it is going to impact applications from Delhi-NCR and nearby areas, but Delhi police comes under center, that can be one reason of making the recruitment pan India.

Lot of people in Police come from rural and semi rural area, who are strong and hard working, they are also dependent on local language and local knowledge, therefore police personnel should come from local area. "Jats" being into services of Police and Defense for generations have good knowledge of handling such policing and defense issues.

I would propose that appropriately qualified Jat applicants/candidates applying in various govt. organisations like Delhi Police, DTC who are screened out because they are Jats need to fight for their rights.

As has been mentioned in the initial post, there is an unwritten policy/norm in Delhi to weed out Jats from govt. recruitment /appointment on one or the other flimsy ground. This can be tackled in following three ways at least:
    1. Being better than the best in terms of preparation and performance in written test/interview.
    2. In case even after good performance, the applicant/candidate is not selected on a flimsy ground, good Jat lawyers should take up their cases and ensure that justice is done and no qualified and deserving Jat applicant is screened out just because he is a Jat.
    3. Jat leaders should take up the cause of Jat society with the concerned higher authorities/ministries after doing proper research and citing real examples of bias and prejudice.

We will have to address this issue sooner than later if we do not want to see a drastic dip in Jat representation in Delhi.
