Though Humayun accepted the Rakhi and started from Agra to go to Rajputana. But in the mean time Bahadur Shah the ruler of Gujarat who had invaded Mewar reminded him that being his co-religionist he must re-consider helping a Hindu State.
Taking into consideration his appeal, he halted at Bayana and abandoned the idea of going to the aid of Rani Karanawati of Chittor [Mewar}.
History is best when created, better when re-constructed and worst when invented.
Rather it happened because of fickle mindedness of Humayun who could not comprehend the value of his decision to extend help to a needy Hindu queen whom he had accepted as his 'sister' by accepting the Rakhi.
His first step to proceed for her help alienated him from Bahadur Shah whereas his put staying order at Bayana angered the Rajputs, the potential royal allies against his enemies.
Thus the opportunity to bring the Rajputs in close contact first envisaged during his time was lost and ultimately he lost the empire of India to Shershah Suri due to this type of follies committed in decision making.
His son and successor, succeeded to lure the Rajputs to his grand alliance and successfully used their loyal services to increase the Empire considerably by using their services in his wars against his opponents both the Hindu and the Muslim rulers of the day.
History is best when created, better when re-constructed and worst when invented.
