    A mystery behind third battle of Panipat (1761)

    It is commonly believed by historians that Sadashivrao Bhau, the Maratha commander, while fighting with the forces of Ahmed Shah Abdali, was killed on 14 January 1761 at the third battle of Panipat, leading to defeat of Marathas. However, Bahu's death still remains a mystery as his dead body was never found and people of Haryana in Panipat region still believe, with solid proofs, that he remained alive after the war, became a Sadhu and resided in Sanghi village (Rohtak) where his samadhi still exists.


    In 1961, after 200 years of this battle, famous historian Swami Omanand Saraswati, after his prolonged research, had published an interesting article, clearing the doubts on this controversy. I have put this article on Jatland Wiki, which can be read on the following URL -
