Use of EVMs in polling : How much foolproof

Thanks to elaborate arrangements made by Election Commission of India, the polling process has been comparatively peaceful n orderly in the five States where elections were held using electronic voting machines.

But some dissatisfied politicians have challenged the use of these machines.

The purpose of the thread is to invite your expert opinion on the issue if these machines are foolproof or could tilt the scale in favour of certain Party or candidate when tampered with by vested interest or not.

Kindly throw light on the issue with lucid examples/ information from around the globe where these machines are used or have been banned after found to be unreliable device.
    Thanks n regards.

Thanks Sir. Could you please throw some light on what are the merits of demerits of the alleged statement on 'tempering of EVMS' in UP?

    Thanks

Kejriwal didn't asked for the same after Delhi Assembly election neither did Congress asked for it after Bihar election. Its just political stunt from loosers after the political outcome of the recent polls.

It is the most irresponsible behavior and a stupidity of highest level when some so called national political parties are raising fingers at the credibility of Election Commission.

These parties already know that going back to the ballot paper system is neither reasonable nor feasible now. Election Commission's rejection was an obvious step. Now, they got a very good excuse if they loose in the following election.

Someone is mastermind in making foolish excuses for not working while other don't know why he is demanding and for what purpose ?

It is reported that some time ago the Supreme Court of India had also passed some order to make EVMS foolproof.

Could someone please explain the exact ruling.

    Thanks n regards.

In 2004, such matter was placed before the Delhi High Court by advocate Pran Nath Lekhi who had alleged that EVMs were tampered with to favour UPA in the election results. But HC found no merit in the petition.

The Karnataka High Court, in a 2005 verdict, held that the use of EVMs was a “great achievement” and source of national pride. The order was delivered on a plea filed in 1999 by a failed candidate who had challenged the role of EVM machines in Yelahanka parliamentary constituency. The court studied the safety features and examined BEL scientists and ruled that machines were tamper-proof and any attempt to doctor them cannot be kept away from the public eye.

Meanwhile, Election Commission of India has released a official press note about the credibility of EVMs. Here is the link if someone want to check and evaluate the technical and procedural security of EVMs :

Let us see what Supreme Court has to say on 24 March.

Before tempering EVM, mind of voters is already tempered with lies, more lies and a lot of lies. Are elections the only way to the democracy?

Conspiratorial theories, lies, fake news, tampered facts, and use of religion to twist facts are best tools to dominate elections and minds of people. When govt institutes are run by religious figures then there is a bigger threat to democracy and ultimately to delivery. Look at the state of some countries like Pakistan where religious figures dominate govt institutes and result of governance and law and order in such countries. Eventually purpose of govt institutes get defeated and people of a country suffer. Have a look at state of economy in India. When people need more jobs, better infrastructure, we are talking about Cow, Dung, Urine etc. When country's focus should be on innovation, growing businesses and rapid development we are talking about Love Jihad, Anti Romeo Squads etc. When focus should be on roads, development, we are talking about threat to Hinduism by a community, Muslim Appeasement, pseudo-secularism, anti nationalist etc. United States with a population of almost 30 crore dominate world with a very high development index, high Per ca pita income. On contrary India is struggling with malnutrition, poor healthcare, poor educational system, poor infrastructure. Common man problems are still same since independence. Getting Roti, Kapda, Makan is still a challenge. Politicians are cleverly shifting public's attention from main issues to crafted issues such as fear, threat, bullying, anti-nationalism and twisted theories and lies. Anyway same old rant of a common man.

On one Hand USA is talking about linking human brain with software and on the other hand in India we are still talking about Cow, Dung, Urine, Anti-National, pseudo-secularism.

Elon Musk’s new company plans to link the human brain with software

Neuralink aims to create electrodes to be implanted in the brain that may allow the upload and download of thoughts.

This Yogi will pose a bigger challenge to both BJP and Modi. Now BJP cannot hide its face any more. RSS has a big role in deciding party affairs.
