Bharatgar (भरतगढ़) is a Village in Rupnagar Tehsil in Rupnagar, District of Punjab District of Punjab State, India. Bharatgarh was an Estate of Virk Jats under Faizal Purian (फैजलपुरिया) or Singhpuria Misl (सिंहपुरिया मिसल). The leader of this Misal was Chaudhary Daleep Singh.

It is located 19 KM towards North from District head quarters Rupnagar, 50 KM from State capital Chandigarh. Bharatgarh Pin code is 140114 and postal head office is Bharatgarh. Kharota ( 2 KM ) , Beli ( 4 KM ) , Manguwal ( 4 KM ) , Bhanglan ( 4 KM ) , Madhopur ( 5 KM ) are the nearby Villages to Bharatgarh. Rupnagar , Baddi , Kurali , Morinda are the near by Cities to Bharatgarh. This Place is in the border of the Rupnagar District and Solan District. Solan District Nalagarh is East towards this place. It is near to the Himachal Pradesh State Border. [1]

Organization

The annual income of this Misal was five Lakh. Daleep Singh, himself received Pahul from Guru Gobind Singh. His son Kapura Singh converted all the Jats of these territories into Sikhs. His son Budh Singh constructed the sacred tank of Taran Taran at a cost of Rupees one lakh.

History

Bharatgarh Fort was built in 1783 and sitting atop a hill surrounded by the Shivalik hills, close to Satluj river, this structure spreading on a 20 Kanal residential area with about 100 acres of forest land surrounding it, has been the centre of activity and headquarters for Singhpuria misl in those times.

The Bharatgarh Fort is one of the rarest standing live-in forts of Punjab. Although it is a residential fort, a portion of it has been made open to tourists in the form of a Heritage Homestay.[2]

फैजलपुरिया मिसल या सिंहपुरिया मिसल

अमृतसर के पास बुआवा जालंधर में फैजुलपुर एक गांव है। यहीं के जाट सरदार कपूरसिंह ने इस मिसल को कायम किया। कपूरसिंह को फर्रुखशियर के समय में नवाब का खिताब मिला था और वह खालसा का बड़ा लीडर बन गया। उसके धर्मोपदेश के जोश के कारण अगणित जाट सिख धर्म में शामिल हो गये। यहां तक कि पटियाले के राजा आलासिंह ने भी उसके हाथ से सिख धर्म की दीक्षा ली थी। ढाई हजार सवार हर समय उसके पास तैयार रहते थे। देहली तक लूट मार करने में इसको कोई रोकने वाला नहीं था। सतलज के दोनों किनारों पर इसका अधिकार हो गया। सभी मिसलों के सरदार इसे श्रद्धा की दृष्टि से देखते थे, और सबकी निगाह में नवाब कपूरसिंह महात्मा था। इसके राज्य के प्रमुख स्थानों में से जालन्धर, नूरपुर, बहरामपुर, पट्टी और भरतगढ़ के इलाके विशेष उल्लेखनीय हैं। इसकी मृत्यु के बाद इसका बेटा खुशहालसिंह रियासत और मिसल का सरदार बना। खुशहालसिंह ने भी बहादुरी के साथ इस मिसल का नेतृत्व किया। 1795 ई० में खुशहालसिंह की मृत्यु के पश्चात् मिसल का सरदार उसका पुत्र बुधसिंह हुआ, जिससे महाराज रणजीतसिंह ने कुल प्रदेश जीतकर अपने अधिकार में कर लिया। किन्तु पीछे जब महाराज रणजीतसिंह की ब्रिटिश गवर्नमेंट से मित्रता हुई और दोनों राज्यों की सीमा बन्दी हुई तो इसका इलाका ब्रिटिश गवर्नमेंट की हद में आ गया, जिसमें से कुछेक देहात बुधसिंह की औलाद के पास अब तक हैं।[3]
