Bhoori (भूरी)[1] Bhuri (भूरी)[2] Bhuradi (भूरादि)[3] Bhuria (भूरिया)[4] Bhooria (भूरिया)[5] Bhuriya (भूरिया) Bhoorya (भूरया) Bhoora (भूरा)[6] Bhure (भूरे) is gotra of Jats found in Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. Bhuriya is a Gotra of the Anjana Jats in Gujarat.

Origin

Bhoori gotra started from their ancestral Mahabharata kings Bhuri and Bhurisrava (भूरिश्रवा). [7] Somadatta of the Kuru race with his three sons, all mighty chariot-fighters and heroes, viz., Bhuri, Bhurishrava, and Shala.[8]

Bhor Saidan village was named after Kaurava hero Bhurisrava of Mahabharta, son of Somadutta the king of Vaishali.[9]


Bhor Saidan is located 22 km from Kurukshetra and 13 km west of Thanesar on the Kurukshetra-Pehowa road near Bhureeshwar Temple[10], one of the pilgrimage sites on the river bed of now extinct Sarasvati River [11][12] in Kurukshetra in the Indian state of Haryana.[13]

Bhor Saidan village is located in Pehowa Tehsil of Kurukshetra district in Haryana, India. It is situated 14km away from sub-district headquarter Pehowa and 15 km away from district headquarter Kurukshetra. The total geographical area of village is 810 hectares. Bhor Saidan has a total population of 2,289 peoples. There are about 422 houses in Bhor Saidan village. Pehowa is nearest town to Bhor Saidan. [14]

V. S. Agrawala[16] mentions Vishayas known to Panini which includes - Bhauriki (भौरिकि), under Bhauriki Gana (IV.2.54).


Bhauriki (भौरीकि) is a place name mentioned by Panini in Ashtadhyayi under Kashyadi (काश्यादि) (4.2.116) group. [17]

Adi Parva, Mahabharata/Mahabharata Book I Chapter 177 mentions Kshatriyas who came on Swayamvara of Draupadi. Bhuri is mentioned in verse (I.177.14). ...."Somadatta of the Kuru race with his three sons, all mighty chariot-fighters and heroes, viz., Bhuri, Bhurishrava, and Shala..."[18]


Sabha Parva, Mahabharata/Book II Chapter 31 mentions Kshatriyas who brought tributes on Rajasuya sacrifice of Yudhisthira. Bhuri is mentioned in verse (II.31.8). ...." Somadatta, and Bhuri of the Kuru race, and Bhurisravas and Sala; and Aswatthama, Kripa, Drona, and Jayadratha, the ruler of Sindhu....[19]


Sabha Parva, Mahabharata/Book II Chapter 48 describes Kings who presented tributes to Yudhishthira. Bhuri is mentioned in verse (II.48.11). [20]
