Bhoori (भूरी)[1] Bhuri (भूरी)[2] Bhuradi (भूरादि)[3] Bhuria (भूरिया)[4] Bhooria (भूरिया)[5] Bhuriya (भूरिया) Bhoorya (भूरया) Bhoora (भूरा)[6] Bhure (भूरे) is gotra of Jats found in Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. Bhuriya is a Gotra of the Anjana Jats in Gujarat.

Origin

This gotra started from their ancestral king Samrat Bhurighurata (भूरीघुरत). [7] Bhuri, grandson of Vahika, was a king in the line of Kuru.

V. S. Agrawala[8] mentions Vishayas known to Panini which includes - Bhauriki (भौरिकि), under Bhauriki Gana (IV.2.54).


Bhauriki (भौरीकि) is a place name mentioned by Panini in Ashtadhyayi under Kashyadi (काश्यादि) (4.2.116) group. [9]

Adi Parva, Mahabharata/Mahabharata Book I Chapter 177 mentions Kshatriyas who came on Swayamvara of Draupadi. Bhuri is mentioned in verse (I.177.14). ...."Somadatta of the Kuru race with his three sons, all mighty chariot-fighters and heroes, viz., Bhuri, Bhurishrava, and Shala..."[10]


Sabha Parva, Mahabharata/Book II Chapter 31 mentions Kshatriyas who brought tributes on Rajasuya sacrifice of Yudhisthira. Bhuri is mentioned in verse (II.31.8). ...." Somadatta, and Bhuri of the Kuru race, and Bhurisravas and Sala; and Aswatthama, Kripa, Drona, and Jayadratha, the ruler of Sindhu....[11]


Sabha Parva, Mahabharata/Book II Chapter 48 describes Kings who presented tributes to Yudhishthira. Bhuri is mentioned in verse (II.48.11). [12]
