Why The Great Khali is not joining AAP

New Delhi, 16 August 2016: Dalip Singh Rana aka – The Great Khali has clarified in an interview to a national daily on why he doesn’t want to join the field of politics.

The star wrestler became the cynosure of all eyes last week after he was seen in a photo with his old friend Sajjan Singh Cheema who joined AAP recently.

When asked whether he will be supporting AAP in the upcoming Punjab elections, he told ToI: “ I’m so busy promoting professional freestyle wrestling in India that I have little time to do political analysis. I am equidistant from all political parties. Right now, I have no ambition of joining politics,” he said.

The former Bigg Boss contestant said that he doesn’t like mudslinging in political discourse. “Kisne kya kiya nahi, kaun kya kar sakta hai, baat ispe ho,” he added.

Khali, a popular figure in WWE, was crowned the World Heavyweight Champion in 2007.

When his picture with an AAP leader went viral, it was observed that the celebrity wrestler has been brought in to help the party increase its prospects in the 113-member state assembly.

A plethora of celebrities from the television and the film world have already supported the Aam Aadmi Party. “The endorsement of this vision by these stars gives the party that additional push”, a party leader had once said.

Earlier this month, the party released its first list of candidates for 19 constituencies, nominating senior lawyers H S Phoolka and Himmat Singh Shergill.

AAP, which won four Lok Sabha seats from Punjab while contesting its maiden general elections in 2014, is eying to wrest power from the SAD-BJP alliance in 2017 assembly polls and wants to replicate the Delhi story in Punjab.
