धमतरी

धमतरी (जिला रायपुर, म.प्र.) (AS, p.462) - 18 वीं सदी में निर्मित रामचंद्र जी का मंदिर यहां का सुंदर स्मारक है. इसके स्तंभ विशेष रूप से वास्तुकला के श्रेष्ठ उदाहरण हैं.

धमतरी परिचय

धमतरी नगर छत्तीसगढ़ राज्य मध्य भारत, महानदी के ठीक पश्चिम में स्थित है। यहाँ रेलवे का अंतिम स्टेशन है। यह नगर कृषि एवं वनोपज का एक व्यापारिक केंद्र भी है। प्राचीनकाल से यह नगर महत्त्वपूर्ण रहा है, जो मंदिरों और तालाबों के अवशेषों से प्रमाणित होता है। धमतरी नाम संभवत: धर्म तराई, अर्थात् पवित्र सरोवर से पड़ा, जो इसके कई तटबंधों की ओर संकेत करता है, जो इस स्थान की विशेषता है। यहाँ अनेक मंदिर हैं, यहाँ हालांकि मूर्तियों की संख्या कम है, लेकिन वे क्षेत्रीय शिल्पकला को प्रदर्शित करती है। इन मंदिरों के नियोजन में अलंकृत किनारों और स्तंभों के द्वारा छाया और प्रकाश की व्यवस्था का अद्वितीय प्रदर्शन हुआ है। उनमें से अधिकांश अब खंडहरों में बदल चुके है। 1881 में यहाँ नगरपालिका का गठन हुआ था। [1]
